Although Donald Trump miraculously escaped with relatively minor injuries, the attempted assassination last weekend left one of his supporters dead.
In response, the owner of a Pennsylvania gym frequented by victim Corey Comperatore’s daughter launched a fundraiser, and the response has been overwhelming.
According to Fox News:
The slain firefighter’s sister, Dawn Comperatore Schafer, wrote in a Facebook post that Comperatore “was a hero that shielded his daughters.”
On Facebook, Allyson described her father as “the best dad a girl could ever ask for,” writing that he “died a real-life superhero.”
“He threw my mom and I to the ground… [and] shielded my body from the bullet that came at us,” she wrote on Facebook.
Originally, Bubb intended to raise just $7,000 for the Comperatore family, but as of Tuesday morning, over 20,000 backers had donated more than $1,114,000.
As of this writing, the total amount raised was more than $1.3 million.
Comparator’s funeral drew a large turnout on Friday, as revealed on social media:

Trump reached out to Comparatore’s widow, as reported by The Hill:
Helen Comperatore, who lost her husband, Corey Comperatore, shared in a post on social media that she exchanged words with Trump after the assassination attempt.
“He was very kind and said he would continue to call me in the days and weeks ahead,” she wrote, The New York Times reported.
Comperatore said the former president said her 50-year-old husband “left this world a hero, and God welcomed him in.”
Comperatore’s sister, Kelly Comperatore Meeder, said the family had spoken to other Trump campaign officials Monday evening, and they had declined an invitation to speak with President Biden.
