Everyone enjoys a little peace and quiet every once in a while, but for most of us, a few hours alone is enough before we’re ready to get back to the world and be around people again.
However, YouTuber Norme has taken solitude to a whole new level by challenging himself to spend an entire month in solitary confinement, hoping to set a new World Record along the way.
The closest result that appears is actually a record for the longest time on death row.
With that record standing at 45 years, Norme is still a long way from it, but the fact that such a record is the closest comparison speaks volumes about the difficulty of what he’s trying to accomplish alone in the dark.
Norme has been streaming the entire experience for viewers, and as of November 10, the livestream counter shows he’s been at it for over 618 hours—more than 25 days.
Viewers who want to interact with the stream can do so by sending money, with Norme offering certain actions for a price.
For example, $5 will prompt him to do a handstand, $20 gets him in a ‘straightjacket for 15 minutes,’ and $50 will mean ‘mouth tape for one hour.’
For a $10 payment, Norme can even get some food.
One viewer shared: “this is genuinely depressing,” while another asked: “he has done this willingly[?]”
“They gotta go get this guy this is not normal,” commented a third person.
One person encouraged him by saying: “It’s been 23 days you got 7 days left you got this bro,”
Norme has confessed that he’s come close to giving up several times during the challenge, but for now, he’s determined to stick it out.
Although he managed to stay awake for an impressive 264 hours, he ultimately fell short of the official record of 453 hours.
