Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have just been ‘downgraded’ by the official website of Buckingham Palace.
The royal family has been at the centre of a lot of drama recently, from Kate Middleton’s bizarre antics to Nostradamus’s predictions about King Charles’ impending abdication.
But amidst all of this furore, eagle-eyed fans have noticed something interesting.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s biography on the Buckingham Palace website has undergone a major change.
Prince Harry and Markle are undoubtedly the two most controversial members of the royals since stepping down as senior members in 2020, and in doing so, breaking major tradition.
The couple now spend most of their time in California, alongside their two children, Archie and Lilibet Sussex.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex hit headlines earlier this year when it was revealed they had changed both their children’s names – without even announcing it to the public.
They made the change quietly through their website.
“The reality behind the new site is very simple – it’s a hub for the work the Sussexes do, and it reflects the fact the family have, since the King’s coronation, the same surname for the first time,” a source tells The Times.
“That’s a big deal for any family. It represents their unification, and it’s a proud moment.”
And today, another website drama has Prince Harry and Markle back under the microscope.
The pair have been majorly ‘downgraded’ on Buckingham Palace’s official site – and it’s caused some controversy online…
One commenter writes: “They don’t deserve any recognition in my eyes. However, only 20 words would describe these two perfectly.”
A second agrees: “They are off the payroll, so should not even be on the list.”
“Personally I think they should be deleted from [the] royal family website,” adds a third.
However, others are on Prince Harry and Markle’s side!
One comments: “Can’t believe the hassle they’ve got yet they make excuses for Andrew.”
Another points out: “Do you think they care about that website? Lmao. God bless Prince Harry and Princess Megan!”
In spite of Prince Harry and Markle stepping down from their working royal roles three years ago, the pair had remained a central part of the Buckingham Palace website – until now.
Eagle-eyed fans noticed that the pictures of both the Duke and Duchess briefly vanished completely from the site.
They were reportedly then reinstated – but much further down the page, and with a significantly smaller, joint biography.
Prince Harry’s original profile was apparently 2,700-word biography including details of his early life, career, and philanthropic pursuits.
Markle’s separate profile was slightly shorter – around 1,300 words – but also focused on her charitable works, alongside her previous career as an actress.
Now, the pair share a joint bio with a combined word count of just 577 words, according to MailOnline.
Ouch.
