Gail was born in Tampa, Florida, in 1965, and began acting in the early 90s, with appearances in TV series such as Growing Pains, Doogie Howser, M.D. and Murder, She Wrote.
However, by far his most famous roles came in his soap opera appearances.
Gail played Dr. Joe Scanlon in more than 200 episodes of the General Hospital spinoff Port Charles.
He also played Stuart Carson, the fiancé of Shannen Doherty’s Brenda Walsh in Beverly Hills, 90210, and Dean Collins in the WB drama Savannah.
His most recent IMDB credit is Blacksad: Under the Skin, an adventure game for Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in which he voiced the character Sam in 2019.
But today, it’s been announced that Gail has tragically passed away.
Gail’s sister, Katie Colmenares, has taken to Instagram to announce that her brother has sadly died.
She writes: “There’s barely been even a day in my life when you were not with me by my side, always my wingman, always my best friend, ready to face anything and anyone with me. The bears will never be the same but I will hold you so tight every day in my heart, you gorgeous, loving, amazing fierce human being, missing you every second of every day forever, there will never be another.”
Another sweet tribute comes courtesy of Pete Ferriero, host and producer of the Beverly Hills 90210 Show podcast.
He’s shared a montage of clips of Gail’s guest appearances on his show, writing: “In memory of David Gail. Here are a few stories he shared when he joined the podcast.
Ferriero has also commented on Colmenares’ original post, adding: “David was a kind human. Someone I wish I spoke to more. He was filled of life and incredible stories. I am grateful I got to know. I am so saddened for your loss, and the world’s loss. He was a gift to us all.”
“We loved David so much,” writes Sheri Sussman of Spiral Gate Productions. “He was one of the good guys in life.”
“Sending love to you and your family and am heartbroken he was the most loyal, supportive friend. I miss him already,” she adds.
Actress Kristin Datillo pens: “I am so sorry to see this. I worked with your brother on a movie Some Girl. He and I played love interests and he was such a sweet soul. My heart is heavy.”
At the time of writing, Gail’s cause of death has yet to be confirmed.
Rest in peace.
