Britney Spears has made a shock career announcement after revealing she’s quitting the music industry.

After finally shaking off the shackles of her conservatorship, she’s changed her name, filed for divorce, and brought out a landmark book.
But this week, it’s Spears’ career that’s back in the headlines.
The ‘Everytime’ artist announced a surprise career change, after confirming she’s quitting the music industry for good.
Before 2022, it had been six years since Spears had released any new music, leading some fans to speculate that her heart just wasn’t in it anymore.
Her collaboration with Elton John on a ‘Tiny Dancer’ remix called ‘Hold Me Closer’ had fans thinking that she may be making her comeback after the end of the controversial conservatorship that had controlled her life and career for many years.
At the time, Spears took to social media to say: “Okie dokie… my first song in 6 years!!!! It’s pretty damn cool that I’m singing with one of the most classic men of our time… @eltonofficial!!!!
“I’m kinda overwhelmed… it’s a big deal to me!!! I’m meditating more and learning my space is valuable and precious!!!
Many were even anticipating a new Britney Spears album announcement. But since then, things have been quiet on the Spears music front.
And now she’s taken to social media to explain exactly why…
This week, she’s taken to Instagram to clear up any rumours.
Spears writes: “Just so we’re clear most of the news is trash!!! They keep saying I’m turning to random people to do a new album… I will never return to the music industry!!!
“When I write, I write for fun or I write for other people!!!
“For those of you who have read my book, there’s loads that you don’t know about me… I’ve written over 20 songs for other people the past two years !!!”
Spears also announced a surprise career change, adding: “I’m a ghostwriter and I honestly enjoy it that way!!!
“People are also saying MY BOOK WAS RELEASED WITHOUT MY APPROVAL ILLEGALLY and that’s far from the truth… have you read the news these days??? I’m so LOVED and blessed!!!”
Fans have been left divided by Spears’ announcement, with many feeling sad not to be getting any more tunes, but glad the star is in a good place with her career.
One X (formerly known as Twitter) user wrote: “I know it’s sad, she was so damn good.”
Another agreed: “Heartbreaking but understandable.”
While a third cast doubt on Spears’ assertions, speculating: “Highly doubt that’s true, she has so much left to offer.”
