Machine Gun Kelly Officially Changes His Name On Spotify
The ‘Bad Things’ rapper, whose real name is Colson Baker, 33, is also well known for hits ‘Mainstream Sellout’, ‘Wild Boy’ and ‘My Ex’s Best Friend’.
And he’s perhaps equally famous for his bizarre relationship with his fiancée, actress Megan Fox.
But now, it’s MGK’s stage name change that is going viral…
Recently, MGK hit headlines for a bold new look.
He opted to cover up his old tattoos by blacking them out.
Tattoo artist ROXX told TMZ that Machine Gun Kelly’s blackout tattoo came amid a ‘spiritual consultation’.
She explains that: “All his tatts were too chaotic for him now and he was seeking change and order in his life.”
ROXX also reveals the inking took many hours and 44 needles to complete.
She praises MGK for his tolerance of the extreme pain, calling him the ‘toughest client she’s ever had in 30 years’.
But following this controversial tattoo, MGK is back in the headlines…
Machine Gun Kelly’s name has always been a topic of contention.
Last year, fans posted a video on TikTok of them attending a Machine Gun Kelly concert, and it looked like MGK was undergoing a rebrand.
Concert-goers asked him to remove ‘Machine Gun’ from his name to stop ‘glorifying machine guns’.
Later in the year, the singer attended the GQ Men of the Year party – where he asked photographers: “Instead of Machine Gun can you just call me Machine from now on? Just Machine.”
This first shift in name attracted a lot of attention at the time.
One person writes in the comments: “That’s actually really cool. Recognised his name had something problematic and rather than getting offended – considered further and adjusted.”
Someone else added: “Respect. He heard with open consideration and actually did something. Well done Machine!”
Another fan said: “This is very cool, i got mad respect for him if this was really why he changed the name.”
It looked as though the name change was serious, as he then amended his name in a carousel post on Instagram with the simple caption ‘Machine’.
However, Entertainment Weekly later confirmed that he wasn’t changing his name to ‘Machine’.
But now, there’s been a different name change for Machine Gun Kelly, who has amended his artist title on Spotify!
Eagle-eyed fans have noticed that the artist’s Spotify songs are now listed under a different stage name.
Machine Gun Kelly has become… mgk.
What do you think of the change?
