Dick Van Dyke, 99, Drops Out Of Event Due To Health: ‘Today Is Not A Good Day’ – The Hook news

Legendary actor Dick Van Dyke was forced to drop out of a public appearance over the weekend due to having a “bad” day.

On June 28, the 99-year-old’s wife, Arlene Silver, took to the stage in his place at Vandy Camp – a comedy and fan event, to tell the guests that he was “not up to” performing.

Silver said: “I’m sorry,”, “When you’re 99-and-a-half years old, you have good days and bad days, and when you’re 40 years old, you have good days and bad days. Unfortunately, today is not a good day for him, and he’s sick that he can’t be here.”

The event was a “celebration” of Van Dyke, Silver and their band, The Vantastix, honoring his “passion for comedy, vaudeville and the circus.”

She informed the audience that Van Dyke would be watching from home and asked that they “tell Dick, who’s watching, what he means to you.”

One audience member said:  “We all are very inspired by you and what you do,” while another added, “Get well soon, Dick.”

We wish him a speedy recovery.
