He was ‘found in distress’ on Friday
Zac Efron has issued an update to fans after he was found in a swimming pool in Ibiza and rushed to hospital.
The 36-year-old was ‘found in distress’ and pulled from the pool by two people who worked at the private Villa he was staying at on Friday and taken to hospital.
He has now reassured fans he is ‘happy and healthy’.
The ‘High School Musical’ star posted a picture to Instagram which shows him laying on a Pilates ball, flexing his muscles with a pair oof weights accompanied by the caption: “Happy and healthy – thanks for the well wishes”.
A spokesperson told TMZ that Efron had only been taken to hospital as a precaution and declined to comment on the specifics of what had happened.
Efron has previously spoken of the need to ‘disconnect’ from the world after completing work on a role before he can reconnect with his friends and family.
In an interview with The Rake magazine he said: “When filming is done, I need to disconnect. Be out in nature and let the character drift out of me and I then find my true self again.
“The best place for me to do that if not in nature is to be somewhere new. I think you need to re-engage with who you are before you head back and try to be with your friends and family.”
The Iron Claw actor had been travelling around Europe in recent weeks. He was spotted in Paris for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games before travelling to St Tropez, Mykonos and now Ibiza.
Efron’s last film appearance was alongside Joey King and Nicole Kidman in ‘A Family Affair’ which follows Zara, played by King, an assistant who falls for her boss Chris Cole, played by Efron.
