James “Ashley” Webb Ashley has publicly claimed that he experiences a monthly bleeding cycle that exits through his rectum.

According to his own Reddit posts and statements, Webb says he has an ovulation-like cycle that includes cramping and bleeding. He acknowledges being born with male external anatomy and XY chromosomes, and that medical scans show no uterus or ovaries.

Despite this, he asserts that his body somehow formed an internal female reproductive structure that lacks a normal vaginal opening. He claims this structure connected to his colon instead, so the blood from his supposed cycle leaves the body through the rectum.

He has described the bleeding as occurring monthly along with unexplained mucus, and has said doctors are “baffled” by his condition.

These claims circulated widely after he entered the Maine Democratic Senate race and participated in a debate.

Medical consensus holds that biological males do not menstruate, as menstruation requires a uterus and the associated female reproductive system. Webb’s account remains a personal claim without independent medical verification presented in public reporting.

Accordingly, Maine Democrats have narrowed their U.S. Senate field, removing several candidates including transgender activist Webb from the list of those qualified for the party’s nominating convention.

After the filing deadline, the party verified signatures and eligibility requirements. Only Saundra Pelletier and former state Senate President Troy Jackson remain as the qualified options.
