You thought the spooky season was over but thankfully a Netflix movie has joined you in the fight against the premature Christmas build-up
A horror-thriller making viewers ‘want to scream’ over how ‘heart pounding’ it is has just dropped on Netflix.
If you needed something to distract you from the panic that’s setting in from seeing Christmas lights being strung, trees put up and even – dare I say it – wreaths being donned on front doors and have been left screeching ‘But it’s only early November?!’ then don’t fret, because a new Netflix thriller has you covered.
The movie obtained over 20.2 million views in its opening week (October 21 to October 27) and an additional 28 million in the second week (October 28 to November 3).
For those of you who preferred film or drama studies to maths – I would expect nothing less if you clicked on this article – that totals a whopping 48.2 million views in just two weeks.
And it spent a week in the top spot of Netflix’s Top 10 before being bumped to the second spot the following week.
Yes, over 48 million views across two weeks (Netflix)
The movie’s synopsis is basically one of every woman’s nightmares – finding yourself lost in a forest, encountering a man – a bear would’ve definitely been a safer bet – and being drugged and forced to try and run and hide before the paralysis sets in and you’re left unable to move, fighting for survival.
The film – titled Don’t Move – was written by TJ Cimfel and David White and directed by Adam Schindler and Brian Netto.
It stars Kelsey Asbille (One Tree Hill), alongside Finn Wittrock (American Horror Story), Moray Treadwell (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest) and Daniel Francis (Stay Close).
Viewers have called the film ‘heart pounding’ (Netflix)
Despite a pretty meagre Rotten Tomatoes Popcornmeter score of 38 percent, it achieved a fairly solid Tomatometer score of 72 and well, ultimately, the film is clearly still being watched no matter what the reviews say with its over 40 million views in just two weeks.
And the love for the thriller has spilled onto social media too.
One Twitter user said: “If you’re a fan of Thriller Movies. Go and watch this movie on Netflix ‘Don’t Move‘. Sick, injury detailed, heart pounding & crazy scenes and you just want to scream. Omo one of the cr@ziest movie I’ve seen this year!”
Another put: “Don’t Move on Netflix is too good.”
A third commented: “Y’all gotta watch Don’t Move on Netflix.”
A fourth wrote: “Stressing myself out watching “don’t move” on Netflix.”
And a final resolved: “That movie gives the same vibe as trying to fight in a dream.”
Don’t Move is available to stream on Netflix now.
