J.K. Rowling will not forgive Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson after they became ‘celebrity mouthpieces’ for trans movements

J.K. Rowling is perhaps one of the most well-recognized writers of this generation. Her Harry Potter series is one of the most-read book series even today.

In her personal life, she has made some statements lately which have been deemed controversial by some. Keep reading to learn more about what has happened…

J.K. Rowling’s book series was a huge hit worldwide even before it became a movie. Once the films came out, they became just as popular and launched the young actors, like Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, into fame. Daniel played Harry Potter, and Emma was Hermione Granger. They seemed to have a great friendship with Rowling, the author who created their characters. However, it seems that their relationship might have gotten a bit rocky recently.

Rowling recently shared her frustration with two actors. On X (which used to be called Twitter), she posted a thread about the much-anticipated Cass Review. This review was done by Dr. Hilary Cass, a pediatrician who looked into gender identity services for young people in the UK. The review found that there was not enough good research on how puberty blockers affect children.

After the review came out, Rowling went on X to voice her anger about what she called “serious medical malpractice.”

“Even if you don’t feel embarrassed about supporting what now seems like serious medical malpractice, and even if you don’t want to admit you might have been wrong, where’s your instinct for self-preservation? The bandwagon you jumped on so eagerly is speeding toward a cliff,” she wrote earlier this week.

She continued her posts by saying, “If I seem angry, it’s because I’m really angry. I read something by Cass this morning, and my frustration has been building all day. Kids have been seriously hurt, and many people are involved, not just doctors, but also famous people, the media that doesn’t ask questions, and greedy companies.”

Even though she didn’t mention any celebrities by name, her sharp comments about Emma and Dan came after a follower tweeted her, saying, “I’m just waiting for Dan and Emma to publicly apologize to you, knowing you’ll forgive them.”

The author replied to that tweet, directly addressing the stars. She stated, “Not safe, I’m afraid.” Then she added, “Celebrities who supported a movement that threatens women’s rights and cheered for the transitioning of young people can keep their apologies for those who have been hurt and for women who need safe spaces.”

In 2020, J.K. Rowling made headlines for her controversial remarks about transgender individuals, which led to responses from both Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson. The whole situation began when Rowling shared a retweet of an article that used the phrase “people who menstruate” instead of just saying “women.”

She tweeted, “’People who menstruate.’ I’m pretty sure there used to be a word for those people. Can someone remind me? Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?”

After that, many people reacted to her tweet, sharing their thoughts. A lot of them were upset by what she suggested and wanted her to stop discussing the topic.

Even though she faced a lot of backlash for her tweet, she stood her ground. She later said in another tweet, “If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn’t hate to speak the truth.”

Following her controversial statement, Radcliffe released an essay at the time for The Trevor Project to extend his support to the transgender community and also apologized for any pain the author’s words might have caused to people.

Watson also released a statement that supported the trans community. She wrote, “Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they aren’t who they say they are.”

“I want my trans followers to know that I and so many other people around the world see you, respect you, and love you for who you are,” she went on.

It looks like there might be some tension between J.K. Rowling, Daniel Radcliffe, and Emma Watson. What are your thoughts on this? Share your opinions in the comments!
