The explanation behind The Beatles’ name is seemingly so obvious, yet so many people didn’t know until now
A TikToker recently uncovered why The Beatles spell their name with an A, and it turns out many Americans had no idea either.
What’s the greatest band ever to grace the planet? That depends on who you ask and which generation they belong to.
Whether you say Queen, Oasis, The Rolling Stones, or even Royel Otis (okay, they might not be in the same league, but I’m really enjoying them right now, so maybe give them a listen), one thing is for sure – The Beatles are either first or second on that list.
Hailing from Liverpool, England, The Beatles formed over 60 years ago, in 1960.

Their music is still popular today, proving their timeless appeal.
It wasn’t until 1964 that the “scousers” – a term used to describe people from Liverpool – first landed in the US.
John Lennon, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, and Ringo Starr took the nation by storm, capturing the hearts of millions of Americans almost overnight.
Sadly, only two members of the band are still alive – McCartney and Starr.
Both are still performing. McCartney has even headlined the halftime show at the Super Bowl and Coachella, showcasing his enduring talent.

Lennon and Harrison have since passed away. Lennon was tragically assassinated in 1980 while visiting New York City.
His killer, Mark Chapman, said he shot Lennon “because he was very, very, very famous.”
Harrison passed away at a friend’s house in Los Angeles after battling cancer in 2001.

Taking to the platform, she said: “I just learned that the reason the Beatles are spelled with an ‘A’ is because it’s a music pun, like the word beat.
I’ve listened to them all my life and I just never noticed it.
I know how to spell beetles, and I get that spelling it with an ‘A’ is a play on words, but I still never processed it.
One person commented: “Maybe it’s an American thing because I’m pretty sure all English people know this.”
Another added: “All British people know this.”
Explaining why the band went with the name, in The Beatles’ biography in 1961, Lennon said: “Why Beatles? Ugh, Beatles, how did the name arrive?
“Thank you, mister man, they said, thanking him.”
