On February 27, 2015, a 17-year-old named Daylenn Pua vanished after he set out to climb the Haiku Stairs in Hawaii, also known as the ‘Stairway to Heaven.’
Daylenn was visiting his grandmother in Hawaii when he chose to tackle the infamous stairs.
Originally constructed during World War Two, the steps provided a route to U.S. Navy communication facilities on Oahu.
The trail features “3,922 steps that cut through the Ko’olau range” and it is, interestingly, “illegal” to access.
The website also mentions: “The stairs must be accessed by trespassing behind the Haiku neighborhood.”
Moreover, the stairs are “weathered and sometimes unreliable,” making the hike a challenging “continuous and steep path.”
According to the site, it leads to a viewpoint offering “easily the best views across Oahu.”
Unfortunately, he never made it back home.
A massive search effort was undertaken, involving U.S. Navy drones. Among the key pieces of evidence were the photographs Daylenn had shared with his family.
Upon close examination of the photos, you can distinctly see the figure of someone—or something—crouching in the underbrush.
It might be something as simple as another hiker finding a secluded spot in the bushes, but it might also suggest something more ominous.
And it’s clear from the photos that there is definitely a figure hunched over in the scene.
Since his body was never found, it’s impossible to determine whether he is alive or what might have caused his death if he is not.
Could this shadowy presence be linked to his vanishing?
