Post Malone recently opened up about his life before he became famous, sharing that he was actually a bit of a ‘loner’ before making millions.
Known today as a rapper, singer, and songwriter, Post Malone has had massive success with hits like Congratulations, Rockstar, and even a Grammy-nominated album.
On top of his career wins, he’s also had some big personal milestones. In 2022, he got engaged and welcomed a daughter with his fiancée.
But despite his success now, the 29-year-old—whose real name is Austin Richard Post—didn’t always have such great luck, especially when it came to love.
In an episode of This Past Weekend podcast with Theo Von, Malone revealed that before fame, he saw himself as a bit of a loner.
When Von asked him if he had been a ladies’ man earlier in life, Malone quickly responded, “Absolutely not.”
He went on to admit that he couldn’t even remember the first time he had any success with the ‘opposite sex’, joking that by the time it happened, he’d ‘probably made a million bucks’.
Malone continued, sharing a personal story from his teenage years: “I got stood up at homecoming. All my crushes… it never worked out for me.”
Despite the early rejection, Malone added that things “worked out in the long run” for him.
He explained that he spent most of his teen years playing guitar, which clearly paid off later in life.
“And then the money came… and it was awesome,” he joked. “This is how this works.”
Whatever the reason—money, fame, or personality—it’s clear that things have turned around for Post Malone.
Now engaged and a father, his life is on a different track. His fiancée, named Jamie, keeps a low profile, so not much is known about her. However, it’s widely believed that the two have been together since 2020.
In the same podcast, Malone also shared more about his creative process and what it’s been like growing up in the spotlight.
“When you come into the whole music world so young, it’s super easy to just be a f**k up kid,” he admitted.
He added that in recent years, he’s moved to Utah, deleted his social media, and has been focusing more on what’s fun and meaningful to him.
“I wondered for a long time why I was so sad,” he confessed, explaining that he wasn’t able to do what he truly enjoyed because of his circumstances.
“I think it’s important for anyone… to get out and take some time for yourself. And for the longest time, I didn’t.”
