It’s not something you hear about every day, but sometimes people decide to get plastic surgery. They might want to alter their nose, enhance their breasts, plump their lips, or just make their face look a bit brighter.
However, Jessica Alves, who used to be called Rodrigo Alves, took it to a whole new level by transforming herself into a real-life Barbie doll.
It’s perfectly fine to feel a bit unsure about how you look. Just keep in mind that you are beautiful and can achieve incredible things, no matter what others might think.
Some people chose to undergo plastic surgeries in an attempt to alter their appearance. Jessica Alves took it one step further, and recreated her entire appearance.
Jessica Alves – transition
The story of Jessica begins in early 2020. In an interview with The Mirror, Jessica Alves, who was born as Rodrigo, shared that she is transgender.
“I’m known as Ken but inside I’ve always felt like Barbie,” the 36-year old said. “I finally feel like the real me. Glamorous, beautiful and feminine.”
From that day, she goes by Roddy ans use “she” and “her” pronouns.

Came out as transgender
Jessica got hormone shots that helped her develop curvy hips. She also added blonde hair extensions and fake eyelashes to her look, and now she wears a D-cup bra too. In July, she shared that she would be using the name Jessica.
“For years I tried to live my life as a man. I had a fake six pack put in, I had fake muscles in my arms but I was lying to myself,” she said. “I’m a woman and have always had a feminine brain. Now my body matches my mind.”
Through the years Jessica’s been seen on Celebrity Big Brother in 2018, and last year, she release a song with Italian plastic surgeon Giacomo Urtis called Plastic World. In addition, she has over 1 million followers on Instagram and previously worked as a flight attendant.
So how did she get here?
Jessica Alves, who used to be called Rodrigo Alves, was born on July 30, 1983, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She has a British dad and a Brazilian mom. When she was little, her grandfather would buy her dolls, which let her dress them up however she liked.
Jessica Alves – childhood
One great idea for kids is that they shouldn’t have to follow rules made by society. Instead, they should focus on what feels right for them, according to some people.
This was also from where Alve’s obsession with dolls came from, and she would show the world in what way.
“Growing up, I was very feminine and used to play with dolls and wear my mum’s dresses and heels,” she said, adding that she hated her looks during her teenage years.
I enjoy laughing, but it used to make my nose look really big. This bothered me a lot. My family would often ask who I got that ugly feature from. That’s why I wanted to fix it first.
Jessica Alves moved to London to attend the famous London School of Economics. In 2004, she chose to have plastic surgery for the first time. This was the beginning of her obsession with changing her looks, and she just couldn’t stop.
“I was never completely satisfied after an operation, and I still am not,” Jessica said.
Jessica Alves – surgeries
Now, 20 years later, Jessica has undergone over hundred surgeries.
She underwent surgeries for nose jobs, botox and fillers, pec implants, liposuction to jaws and legs, hair transplant, calf shaping, fake six-pack, filler to arms. She also had four ribs removed, and a “cat-eye” lift.
Jessica has spent over $500,000 on surgeries. Before long, her classmates didn’t recognize her anymore. It was obvious that she was dealing with morphodysphoria, a condition where someone has a distorted view of their own body.
Originally, Jessica Alves, who was known as Rodrigo, wanted to transform into a male version of the Ken doll.
Now, her goal is to become a real-life Human Barbie.
Jessica’s quest for the perfect body took a serious turn for the worse. In April 2016, she ended up in the hospital with necrosis, which is when skin starts to die.
She noticed a hole forming on her nose, and her septum seemed to be coming apart. On top of that, she was having trouble breathing, so she had to go to a hospital in Malaga, Spain. According to the Daily Mail, she was given antibiotics through an IV every eight hours.
Dangerous infection
The doctor cautioned that the infection might damage her nose and spread to her face, potentially causing serious issues like gangrene.
“I can’t breathe through my nose and I feel awful. It’s collapsed. I’ve got an appointment with a specialist in London in six weeks, and I’m really hoping to have surgery soon after that,” Jessica Alves shared.
Two years ago, she had a chemical peel done in Spain, where they used a lotion with acid on her face. After letting it sit, she was supposed to peel off the old skin to show the new skin underneath, according to the Daily Mail.
However, it wasn’t a pleasant experience.
“It was fairly painful, and my face looks red now. It feels like burning, she said. Here in Marbella is very sunny and I can’t go out for the next few days unless I have a lot of sun protection.
Jessica got through two really scary situations. But in 2019, after her 11th nose surgery, her nose began to fall apart. The last operation was meant to correct a botox treatment she had before.
From Rodrigo to Jessica Alves
“The results of this surgery were very pleasing at first but now I am going to have to have another surgery because it is sinking and I am scared, to be honest,” Jessica told the Daily Mail.
Every time I go in for a procedure, it feels more dangerous than before, and I’m really concerned that the doctors won’t be able to make my nose stay the way I want it for good.
Over the years, Jessica has become really famous around the globe because of her appearance. People have mixed feelings about her changing her body so much, but what really matters is that she feels good and happy with herself.
As mentioned earlier, Jessica Alves has always sensed that she had feminine qualities. However, it was only last year, during a photo shoot, that she made the choice to transition.
“Within a month I was diagnosed with gender dysmorphic disorder and given the option to start the appropriate medication to transition,” she told the NY Post in January. “Before, people looked at me because I looked very androgynous and weird for a man. Now I hope they are looking because they think I am a beautiful woman.”
Not done yet
Jessica was all set. She had her Adam’s apple taken out and her six-pack removed. She also had surgeries to make her breasts bigger and got injections in her knees, hips, and feet, which cost her about $35,000.
On top of that, Jessica had face feminization surgery and started taking female hormones.
In July, speaking on the British show This Morning, she explained she still had a couple of things left.
I have to have two or three more surgeries to finish my transition. After that, I promise I’m done with plastic surgery for good, she explained. “There’s only so much a person can handle. Every time I go in for surgery, it’s really scary, but it’s something I need to do to become who I really am. I just have to get through it all.”
Jessica, who is now 41 years old, needs just a couple more surgeries to finish her transition: a penile inversion and the removal of her testicles.
“I absolutely love everything about it! I enjoy going to fancy hair salons, getting my nails, eyebrows, and eyelashes done. I love shopping for dresses, high heels, and wearing pretty lingerie,” Roddy, who currently lives in London, shared.
New nose job
Jessica has had nose surgeries in Brazil, Colombia, Iran, America, and Istanbul. She struggled with breathing through her nose, and a few weeks ago, she needed another surgery.
Many doctors turned her down because they were unsure how to help her. Eventually, she found a doctor in Istanbul who took cartilage from her ear for the procedure. Now, she can breathe normally again.

Through her Instagram page, Jessica Alves shares pictures of her transition and life.
It’s safe to say, even though she’s been through a lot, that she looks really happy. And in the. end, that is the most important thing!
Covered in bandages after FIFTH face lift
In 2024, it looks like TV star Jessica Alves is still on her journey to change her looks.
As reported by the Daily Mail, the 41-year-old recently left a hospital in Turkey in October, all wrapped up in bandages after getting her fifth facelift. Alves shared that after getting rid of her old dermal fillers, she ended up with almost four inches of extra skin on her face. To fix this, she chose a “ponytail facelift,” which is a less invasive surgery that uses staples near the hairline to pull the skin tighter on her face and neck.
She was spotted in a wheelchair, wearing a headscarf, as she was assisted into a car after the surgery. The photos of her quickly spread online because they were quite shocking.
“If I pinched my skin, three or four inches would come off in my hand. It was super stretchy, like rubber, so the doctor managed to take off five inches of my skin,” the 41-year-old explained.
