The View’s Whoopi Goldberg addresses her mention in the Jeffrey Epstein files

The comprehensive updated list of names referenced in the Jeffrey Epstein files has been submitted to Congress. Officials state that it comprises ‘305 prominent figures,’ which includes celebrities, politicians, and A-list stars. Nevertheless, merely being mentioned in these files does not inherently imply any misconduct or connection to the Epstein crimes, according to officials.

The inclusion of Golden Age actress Marilyn Monroe, who passed away long before Epstein’s offenses, illustrates the extensive nature of the archive’s references.

Among the names listed is actress and The View host Whoopi Goldberg.

In response to the release of these records, she chose to address her inclusion in the files.

‘In the interest of transparency, my name is indeed in the files!’ Goldberg, 70, stated during the episode of The View on Tuesday, February 17. ‘And what does it indicate? ‘Whoopi requires a plane to reach Monaco. John Lennon’s charity is financing it.’ It should specify Julian’s Charity. ‘They prefer not to charter, so they are seeking private owners. Here’s the information, and they are inquiring if you wish to offer your G2?’

Joy Behar, co-host, inquired, “So, essentially anyone could find themselves on the list?” Goldberg subsequently clarified that prior to any publications discussing her purported ties to Epstein, she wished to emphasize that they were not friends.

“I was not his girlfriend. I was not his friend,” she stated. “I am addressing this because I am being dragged into it. People genuinely believe that I was involved with him. Come on, honey. Every man I have been with, you have been aware of because either the Enquirer reported on it. People have written about these matters.”

She further mentioned that she has never boarded the plane due to her fear of flying.

Sarah Haines also defended Goldberg, asserting that the names of celebrities can appear in those records for a multitude of reasons, pointing out that even Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe’s names were included in the recently disclosed documents.

“There are numerous reasons your name can be referenced, such as news articles, third-party emails, and contacts,” Haines, 48, remarked. “Wealthy and famous individuals frequently intersect in both professional and social circles, so that aspect is not surprising.”

Haines continued, “What most people — myself included — are seeking is accountability for those who had a significant relationship, the timing of that relationship, and the nature of that relationship.

“No one desires to learn that young girls were victimized and that due to power and wealth, individuals turned a blind eye. No one should be exempt from scrutiny. No level of status should mitigate abuse.”

The sole direct connection identified between Whoopi Goldberg and Jeffrey Epstein in the documents is an email sent from an unidentified sender to Epstein on May 8, 2013.

In this email, the sender inquires whether Epstein could lend his plane to Goldberg for her journey to Monaco. The purpose of her trip was to attend an event organized by the White Feather Foundation, an environmental and health charity established by Julian Lennon. The sender also indicated that the charity would cover the expenses of the trip, preferring the use of a private plane over a charter service.

Epstein’s response to the email was a succinct “no thnaks (sic),” as reported by GB News.

Although the initial release of the Epstein files took place at the end of the previous year, the Justice Department disclosed over 3 million additional documents pertaining to the case in January 2026.

Whoopi Goldberg’s name does appear in other parts of the documents, but this does not establish that she has ever interacted socially with the disgraced financier. Many of these mentions are simply newsletters advertising events that feature her.

Goldberg and her co-hosts have frequently addressed the Epstein files on the show, with her first mentioning rumors of her name appearing in the files during the episode aired on January 4, 2024.

“Apparently, they claimed I was on the island. And I don’t go anywhere,” she stated at that time, referring to Epstein’s private island located in the US Virgin Islands. “So I’m just going to say — and there’s just been a lot of information recently, I don’t know what I’ve done to anyone — but apparently there are many sites that people are unaware can be detrimental.”
