Today, Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, went missing on Saturday. A friend alerted the authorities when she failed to attend church on Sunday, prompting a large search-and-rescue operation to find her. Currently, police have released a new update indicating that she may have been abducted from her residence.
Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last observed at her home in the Catalina Foothills, located north of Tucson, Arizona, on Saturday. During a press conference on Sunday, February 1, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos disclosed that search and rescue teams have been conducting operations both on the ground and in the air.
He also confirmed that a homicide team has been enlisted to assist with the investigation; however, at that time, there were no indications of any criminal activity.
“We are essentially deploying all available resources to this case. Guthrie is 84 years old and in poor health, which raises significant concerns,” stated Chris Nanos. “This situation is extremely troubling for us. It is uncommon for the sheriff to be present at a scene like this. However, the information we are gathering from the residence is very alarming,” he added, stating, “We will continue our efforts. The detective’s homicide team is currently examining the scene as well.”]}

Savannah was not present on the Today show this past Monday. She issued a statement to the program, expressing, “On behalf of our family, I wish to extend our gratitude to everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and messages of support. At this moment, our primary focus is on ensuring the safe return of our beloved mother. We appreciate the diligent efforts of law enforcement in this matter and urge anyone with information to reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.”
Authorities have indicated that Savannah Guthrie’s mother may have been kidnapped.
Currently, the police have released new details, which are quite distressing. In an interview with People Magazine on Monday, County Sheriff Nanons stated that he “believes a crime has occurred.”
“At this juncture, investigators suspect she was forcibly taken from her residence, potentially during the night. The term ‘taken against her will’ encompasses possible kidnapping or abduction,” Nanoos remarked.
“We are dealing with an 84-year-old woman who went to bed on Saturday night and was discovered missing by Sunday morning. We are confident, or at least we believe, that she did not leave that home voluntarily.”
The Pima County Sheriff further noted that Nancy’s “physical mobility was significantly restricted for various reasons.” He elaborated that it is highly improbable she wandered off on her own.
The police department is currently reviewing home security footage from the vicinity. Additionally, they have collected what is thought to be “biological DNA type evidence.”

“She is undoubtedly as sharp as a tack,” Nanos informed People. “It is also troubling that you have this woman who is fully aware of her surroundings, who understands what is happening. Therefore, it is evident that someone entered her home and, in my opinion, removed her without her consent. It was against her will.”
Savannah Guthrie expresses their belief in prayer in a recent statement.
On Monday, Savannah Guthrie provided an update on her Instagram account.
“We have faith in prayer, we have faith in voices united in love and hope, we have faith in goodness. We have faith in humanity. Most importantly, we have faith in Him,” she stated.
“We appreciate you joining your prayers with ours for our cherished mother, our beloved Nancy, a woman of profound conviction, a devoted and faithful servant. Please raise your prayers alongside us and share our belief that she will be uplifted by them at this very moment. We need your support.”
The Today show host concluded, ‘He will maintain perfect peace for those whose hearts are resolute, trusting in the Lord.’ This is a timeless verse from Isaiah for all of us. Bring her home.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Guthrie family.
