Millennials are fighting back as Gen Z attempt to cancel Eminem.
Slim Shady is arguably one of the most successful rappers of all time, having sold around 220 million records worldwide.
He has also won a ton of awards, including 15 Grammy Awards and even an Oscar for his song ‘Lose Yourself’.
While he is one of the most popular musicians of this generation, there are people who dislike him to the point they want to cancel him.
People born between 1997 and 2012 are classed as Gen Z – and they seem to have a problem with Eminem’s songs.
The ‘Without Me’ singer has a reputation for having crude and controversial lyrics and Gen Z’s are finding them problematic.
However, millennials – people born between 1981 and 1996 – are fighting back and defending ‘The Real Slim Shady’ rapper, praising his lyrics while taking aim at modern rappers.
The song that Gen Z’s have a problem with in particular is his 2010 hit song ‘Love The Way You Lie’, featuring Rihanna.
The song, which is about a troubled relationship, includes the rapper saying that he will tie his girlfriend to the bed and set his house on fire if she was to ever leave him again.
In a now-deleted post on TikTok, that racked up over 120,000 likes, the user argued that the song glorifies domestic violence.
This has led to millennials and fans of the rapper leaping to the defence of Eminem, with one posting: “Pretty sure Eminem will cancel Gen Z if they try to cancel him.”
Another person makes a reference to his song ‘Stan’, a song which tells the story of a fan who has an unhealthy admiration for the rapper.
This user writes: “The kids who ‘Stan’ everything don’t even know where ‘Stan’ came from.”

A third adds: “You can’t cancel someone for being offensive whose entire point was to be offensive.”
“They have been trying to cancel him since 1999. Every attempt made him more and more famous. Good luck,” expresses a fourth.
Someone else adds: “Eminem and South Park are forever cancel-proof. You can try, but you’ll fail. Especially if they decide to fire back.”
This attempt to cancel the ‘My Name Is’ musician caught his attention, and he has answered back to those hating on him in a song.
In a song called ‘Tone Death’, which was released shortly after cancel culture made an attempt on him, Eminem raps: “I won’t stop even when my hair turns grey (I’m tone-deaf).
“Cause they won’t stop until they cancel me,”

While Gen Z has been successful at getting celebrities cancelled, it seems Eminem is too big a target for them to handle.
