Netflix has just dropped a new true crime documentary and viewers are dubbing it an ‘absolute mind f***’.
The streaming platform’s latest must-watch follows the world of online dating and how it can go very, very wrong.
And no… it’s not about catfishing. It’s an even more twisted and dark cautionary tale for the digital age.
It begins with Dave Kroupa, a mechanic who has left a serious relationship behind in which he has two kids.
Ready to enjoy being a bachelor, the dad-of-two turns to internet dating to find some fun – with no strings attached.
And while that is what he gets at first, it quickly turns sinister.
After seeing a single mum named Liz Golyar a few times whom he met online, Kroupa explains that he’s not ready to commit – moving on to another single mother called Cari Farver.
When she visits the auto shop where he works to get her car fixed, he feels an instant spark.
But things quickly turn awkward when the pair is at his apartment and Golyar appears, claiming she needs to pick up a few of her things.
Shortly after this uncomfortable encounter, Kroupa and Farver end their brief romance – and this is when the trouble begins.
To his horror, the mechanic is then bombarded with a series of chilling and threatening messages from Farver, who has disappeared and is nowhere to be seen…
Viewers of the true crime documentary are taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) and sharing their disbelief at the shocking true story.
“The plot twist got me shocked as f***,” one person says.
A second describes it as ‘a mind f***’ and another adds that it’s ‘truly one for the books’.
While somebody else says it’s made them glad they’ve never used dating apps, penning: “It’s already making me feel 1000% normal for NEVER signing up for those dating/hookup/romance kinda sites.
“Nothing against the folks who use em… I’ve witnessed marriages from em and all that. But me?! Absolutely the f*** not.”
Lover, Stalker, Killer landed on Netflix on February 9.
The true crime doc’s official description reads: “In this twisting documentary, a mechanic tries online dating for the first time and meets a woman who takes romantic obsession to a deadly extreme.”
Since dropping on the platform, the programme has scored 73% over on Rotten Tomatoes, while it’s received 7.1 out of 10 on IMDb.
