Whoopi Goldberg Calls For 25th Amendment After Trump’s Heated UN Speech
Whoopi Goldberg argued that President Trump should be removed from office under the 25th Amendment after what she described as an “unhelpful” and chaotic United Nations General Assembly speech — sparking heavy backlash across social media.
During Wednesday’s broadcast, the outspoken co-host of “The View” claimed that world leaders watching were “really concerned for” the direction America was headed under Trump’s leadership. Her comments drew immediate attention both from the audience and online.
“He had a chance to deliver much more than what he did, and they don’t consider him to be serious anymore. I’m worried,” Goldberg added on air, making her concerns about Trump’s international standing and leadership crystal clear.

Goldberg then went a step further, saying that the 25th Amendment should be invoked. For context, the amendment is a constitutional measure that lays out the process for removing a president if they are considered unfit or incapable of carrying out the responsibilities of the office.
“Well, they questioned Biden’s competence. If Biden had acted like this I would have said, ‘Yeah take him’ … This was not presidential and this was not helpful,” Goldberg explained, emphasizing that she believed Trump’s performance at the UN fell short of what was expected from an American president.

Several of her fellow “The View” panelists sided with her take.
Co-host Sonny Hostin in particular accused Trump of misleading the United Nations General Assembly by claiming he had brought an end to seven global conflicts.
According to Hostin, this narrative was being pushed largely in hopes of landing a Nobel Peace Prize, rather than reflecting reality.

The reaction online was swift, and critics of Goldberg wasted no time pushing back against her comments.
Many took to social media platforms to defend Trump and question her credibility.
“She was curiously silent during the dementia years of 2021 – 2025” one person posted, referring to her silence in previous years.

“Why do we care what she has to say? Clearly she is unable to put reading and comprehension together in a cohesive way. The 25th amendment has nothing to do with disagreeing with the other party, and she had nothing to say about a mentally incapacitated Biden,” said another, voicing frustration with Goldberg’s remarks and dismissing her call for Trump’s removal.
Meanwhile, Trump’s speech itself was fiery and confrontational. He openly challenged the role of the United Nations, accusing the body of hiding behind “empty words” while, in his view, enabling “an assault on Western countries” through policies of mass migration.
The tone escalated further when Trump proclaimed, “your countries are going to hell.”
He continued by declaring, “It’s time to end the failed experiment of open borders. You have to end it now,” doubling down on his message about national sovereignty and stricter border control.

The delivery of the speech did not go smoothly from the start. A glitch with the teleprompter forced Trump to improvise parts of his address, creating a rocky opening.
Trying to make light of the technical slip, Trump joked that whoever handled the equipment was in “big trouble,”. His remark drew laughs from those in the room, although Goldberg insisted on air that the crowd’s reaction was mocking rather than supportive.
Throughout the address, he circled back to the issue several times, complaining not only about the teleprompter failure but also joking about an escalator malfunction that happened right as he and First Lady Melania Trump stepped onto it.
“These are the two things I got from the United Nations: a bad escalator and a bad teleprompter,” he said with a grin, poking fun at the technical mishaps that had plagued the day.
