Scary Movie is once again ready to give us a mountain of reasons to laugh as it sets out to make its sixth movie after more than a decade. You heard that right! The film that made “Wazzuuuh!” famous is once again hopping on the big screen, but this time, they are promising to make their jokes bigger, better, and more inclusive.
One of the main actors of Scary Movie 6 and a recurring character in the franchise, Marlon Wayans, lost a significant amount of weight just so he could reprise the role of Shorty in the film. With that level of dedication, it is no wonder he could go on and promise something people nowadays would find controversial.
We already saw that Marlon Wayans is already in great shape, but the fact that he is willing to change that says a lot about how much he loves his place in the Scary Movie Franchise. That’s why the promise he made that the movie will provide to its audience is found to be controversial, expressing that everyone will be made fun of, and that he does not care if someone gets offended.
“It’s how we always do it. We just want to make everybody laugh, and we don’t care if you’re sensitive. Even sensitive people need to laugh at themselves. Just know that we’re not just laughing at you, you get the chance to laugh at others. When we did White Chicks, we made fun of everybody, we made fun of Black people, we made fun of white people, we made fun of Hispanic people. That’s just what we do. We make fun of the world, make light of the world.
It’s not to harm, it’s to bring humor. You may offend people here and there, but, hey, not every joke’s gonna land 100 percent, but if you tell a joke and 100 people laugh and one person walks out, that’s still a good joke.” – Marlon Wayans.
Besides preparing to be a writer for Scary Movie 6, Wayans is also set to make himself look like how he did back in 2001, during the time when Scary Movie 2 was made. Marlon Wayans’ character in the film, Shorty, is known to be a skinny and scrawny-looking weed addict who doesn’t take a lot of things too seriously, especially whenever he’s high. That’s why it’s a huge thing that Marlon Wayans went from taking the role of a football legend in the movie Him, to becoming the weed lover of Scary Movie 6.
“Physically, I like to endure some kind of crazy regimen. Even right now, it’s Scary Movie. I just lost 20 lbs, busting my behind every day ’cause I didn’t wanna show up to set as Shorty buff at 225. That’d be lazy of me. I wanna do the work, I wanna look like Shorty. So when I’m able to (in his Shorty voice) have fun and shit, people are able to laugh at me, son.” – Marlon Wayans.
With sheer passion and dedication, we can expect nothing but the best when Scary Movie 6 comes out. With an actor and writer like Marlon Wayans, we can rest assured that the film is in good hands. Who knows? After the success of this movie and the weight journey Marlon Wayans just did, it might even set us up for a potential White Chicks sequel.
