Angelina Jolie has opened up about the health issues she’s faced following her split from Brad Pitt.
When Jolie, 49, and Pitt, 60, met on the set of 2003’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith sparks flew – they would be together for 12 years.
They share six children: Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, – whom Jolie adopted from Cambodia, Vietnam, and Ethiopia, respectively – Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 15.
The world was left in shock when then, in 2016, the Maleficent actress filed for divorce.
And now, in the aftermath, Jolie has shared that she faced a health issue that the internet has branded ‘terrifying.’
In the year of Jolie and Bitt’s breakup, it was reported there had been an alleged violent incident between the two aboard their private plane.
An explosive and heavily redacted FBI report, obtained by Entertainment Weekly, shed further light on the alleged incident in 2022.
The Bullet Train actor allegedly led the actress to the back of the plane, where he would grab her by the head and shoulders, and shake her while yelling: “You’re f***ing up this family.”
Pitt allegedly then punched the ceiling of the plane four times and, according to the report, when Jolie opened the door, two of her children (whose names are reacted), were crying and asked whether Jolie was okay.
The actor allegedly responded: “No, mommy’s not okay. She’s ruining this family.”
It’s claimed he poured beer on Jolie when she was under a blanket with the children.
At the time of their divorce, Jolie’s representative told People magazine: “Angelina Jolie Pitt has filed for dissolution of the marriage. This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting at this time, and asks that the family be given their privacy during this difficult time.”
Pitt’s rep told the publication: “He is emphatic that it did not reach the level of physical abuse, that no one was physically harmed.
“He did not hit his child in the face in any way. He did not do that; he is emphatic about that. He put his hands on him, yes, because the confrontation was spiraling out of control.”
A statement shared with U.S. outlets also stated: “Brad has owned everything he’s responsible for from day one – unlike the other side – but he’s not going to own anything he didn’t do.
“He has been on the receiving end of every type of personal attack and misrepresentation.
“Thankfully, the various public authorities the other side has tried to use against him over the past six years have made their own independent decisions.
“Brad will continue to respond in court as he has consistently done.”
Jolie has since made further allegations against Pitt, claiming she was physically abused long before the alleged plane incident.
Last year, in an interview with The Wall Street Journal, the Salt actress shared that her ‘body reacts very strongly to stress’ and she suffers from a health condition.
Jolie revealed she was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy in 2017, adding: “My blood sugar goes up and down. I suddenly had Bell’s palsy six months before my divorce.”
Bell’s palsy ’causes sudden weakness in the muscles on one side of the face,’ which can result in facial paralysis, explains the Mayo Clinic.
The medical site adds: “The exact cause is unknown. Experts think it’s caused by swelling and inflammation of the nerve that controls the muscles on one side of the face. It could be caused by a reaction that occurs after a viral infection.”
Top Doctors note that ‘facial paralysis can be a terrifying idea, but it is a very real condition that can prevent movement in half or even all of a person’s face.’
