Channing Tatum Opens Up About What It Was Really Like Filming A Nude Scene With Sandra Bullock
Channing Tatum and Sandra Bullock, two of Hollywood’s biggest stars, recently reflected on their experience filming one of the more revealing scenes in their 2022 action comedy, The Lost City.
During a recent appearance on First We Feast’s Hot Ones, Tatum opened up about working with Bullock and revealed what really went on behind the scenes of that unforgettable shoot.
He joked that it was definitely one way to get familiar with the entire crew so early in production, calling the whole situation “a fever dream.”
“Second day on set!” he exclaimed. “You know you have to walk onto set and you have to be like, ‘Hello everyone. My name’s Chan. I know we’ve only had really one more day, or one day to get to know each other.”
Sandra Bullock also discussed the now-famous scene, describing how she had to remove fake leeches from Tatum’s bare backside while staying in character. It was far from glamorous, but she managed to keep her composure through the humor of it all.
She told Stephen Colbert she was “fully there. Full on face to face, with the, uh… landscape”.
During his Hot Ones interview, host Sean Evans asked Tatum if the rumors were true that the leech scene took “50 takes” because he couldn’t stop laughing. Tatum quickly corrected the story with a smile.
“It wasn’t 50 takes, but it was a lot, it was, weirdly, the second day of filming … I knew Sandy, we have kids the same age and we went to the same preschool and whatnot,” he said, explaining that while it wasn’t quite 50 takes, it was still one of the strangest days of his career.
“It’s a hell of a day two, let me just say that,” Tatum added, summing up the hilarious chaos of the day.
“You have to really like the person and feel safe with them. There was no weirdness,” Bullock said, describing how comfortable they felt working together during the shoot.
“You’d think there would be weirdness, but because he was so chill about it, he dropped everything and I spoke to it.”
Bullock once shared that at first, their daughters — Everly and Laila — didn’t exactly get along. But time healed that rift, and Tatum later confirmed that the two families have since become close friends, with the girls now wanting to “hang out all the time.”
