A divorce lawyer has gone viral after exposing the top five professions that women should apparently avoid in a husband.
Divorce rates have reportedly been declining over the past few years but they are still believed to be higher than they were in the 1970s, as suggested by Harbour Family Law.
Approximately 40 to 50 percent of first marriages end in divorce, according to the American Psychological Association – and the stats are even higher when it comes to second marriages, as per Petrelli Law.
So when settling down with someone and considering tying the knot, it’s important to contemplate all factors about a person – from their plans for the future to the little things like their day-to-day schedule.
And now a divorce lawyer has highlighted that you should also be considering what type of job a man has if you’re considering marrying them, as there are apparently some you should be avoiding.
Recently, divorce lawyers have been making waves by sharing their words of wisdom online…
Kate Simonds of the Simonds Law Group shared her wisdom in a shocking Instagram reel.
She blew the internet away after revealing the top five professions that are most likely to cheat on their partners.
And now, another divorce lawyer has shared a similar warning.
Katherine Leonard, from the US, has been practicing law for over a decade, and over the years, she’s picked up on a trend when it comes to clients and their jobs.
She’s now taken to TikTok and is using her expertise to warn women what kind of jobs they should be looking out for when dating men.
Unsurprisingly, many people have taken to the comments and had a lot to say about the divorce lawyer’s list.
In agreement with the expert, one viewer writes: “All of them work long hours and spend a lot of time away from home I’ve dated one of each category and 100 percent agree.”
Another adds: “Uniforms,” alongside a red flag emoji.
While a fellow divorce lawyer comments: “NJ divorce lawyer. I 100% agree. They run tabs into the six figures.”
A fourth person simply remarks: “Hero complex.”
“You’re spot on… Beware of uniforms,” somebody else says.
“Over the course of my career, I’ve watched my most difficult cases and, shockingly, many of them involved men in these five professions,” the expert says in the viral video.
However, Leonard does stress that people should ‘not worry’ if their partners work in these professions, as there are ‘outliers on any kind of statistic’.
The divorce lawyer’s list is made up of five jobs that supposedly make men feel like ‘gods’, as she claims guys in these professions ‘tend to be more narcissistic.’
1. Surgeons
Delving into some on the list in further detail, Leonard says that surgeons are used to being in charge and everyone looking up to them.
“You come home and someone’s asking you to take out the trash, I think that’s kind of a difficult transition to make,” she explains.
2. Military
The expert goes on to say that people in the military are also on the list as they’re ‘in control of 150-200 people’s lives at a time.’
“They are treated with a tremendous amount of respect and they have a lot of responsibility. They tend to be very narcissistic and very controlling,” Leonard adds.
“I’m sure there are great ones in these professions it just tends to be a theme that I see.”
A 2017 study found that almost 23% of military men cheated during a year-long deployment.
3. Pilots
“Being a flight attendant is freaking lonely,” one aviation worker admits in a TikTok. “You’re spending every night alone. It’s just super, super lonely.”
Spending a lot of time away from home and living an almost anonymous lifestyle while on the road could certainly lead to transgressions.
4. Firefighters
One person pens: “My dad was a firefighter, can confirm, did cheat.”
Another commenter jokes: “As a firefighter, I have to disagree… my wife and girlfriend do as well!”
Leonard admits she’s never really understood why, but they’re definitely on her list.
5. Police Officers
Leonard draws attention to the ‘scorched earth’ policy she believes police officers (and other professions on her list) take when splitting from a partner. This means they tend to get defensive, and angry, and may even lash out at those who challenge them.
Not only does she see a lot of clients in the police force, but she also noticed that these clients tend to be more tricky to work with!
