Ozzy Osbourne’s death certificate lists a one-of-a-kind job title for the star as well as his real name, after his cause of death was revealed just yesterday (August 5).
The Osbourne family announced the passing of their rock icon on July 22, with a heartbreaking statement.
It read: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.
“He was with his family and surrounded by love.”
As fans around the world mourned his death, the star was laid to rest beside the lake on the grounds of his Buckinghamshire estate, during a private ceremony last Thursday.
His death followed shortly after his final stage appearance – a powerful farewell show in Birmingham, the city where his music career first took flight.
He reunited with his band Black Sabbath for the first time in 20 years, and described the show as his ‘final encore.’
In a touching personal moment, his daughter Kelly Osbourne became engaged to Sid Wilson during the concert.
Friends and family of the performer described his intimate funeral service as ‘incredibly emotional.’
Roughly 110 close family and friends attended, including his wife Sharon, children Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis.
Just yesterday, the star’s death certificate was made public, revealing his official cause of death.
The former Black Sabbath frontman died from acute myocardial infarction and out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, the New York Times reports.
Coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction were also listed as contributing conditions.
Osbourne had battled Parkinson’s since 2020, bravely and candidly sharing his struggles with fans.
Speaking with Good Morning America when he first revealed his diagnosis, the legend said: “There’s so many different types of Parkinson’s…but it does affect certain nerves in your body.
“And it’s like you have a good day, and then a really bad day.”
The star noted that the disease made him ‘live for the moment.’
As he added: “You don’t know when you’re gonna wake up and you ain’t gonna be able to get out of bed. But you just don’t think about it.”
Detailed on his death certificate was also the one-of-a-kind job title given to the rockstar.
Occupation is included on a death certificate to help researchers identify potential health risks that are associated with specific jobs.
And it’s safe to say Osbourne may be the only person to ever be graced with this job title on their certificate.
The document states that Osbourne’s job title was ‘rock legend,’ which fans are extremely happy about.
One said: “Ha! Only Ozzy could pull that off.”
As another wrote: “Legend to the end.”
Alongside ‘rock legend’ was also ‘performer’ and ‘songwriter.’
But it wasn’t the only detail revealed his death certificate that shocked fans.
The document also revealed the star’s real name, as supporters were amazed to find that it’s not Ozzy.
On the certificate, his real name is listed as John Michael Osbourne.
One fan questioned: “Did you guys know Ozzy Osbourne’s real name is John?”
As another said: “It didn’t occur to me until now that Ozzy had a real name (it’s John).”
“I honestly didn’t know his real name was John,” a third noted.
Revealing where exactly ‘Ozzy’ came from, one fan explained: “A lot of people don’t realize ‘Ozzy’ was short for ‘Osbourne.’”
