DoorDash Customer Shares Footage Of Driver’s Furious Reaction To Being Given 25% Tip

Footage of a DoorDash driver’s reaction to a 25 percent tip has gone viral.

Many food delivery drivers have taken to social media and documented their issues with non-tipping or low-tipping customers.

One worker sparked a huge debate after eating the order of a non-tipping customer, while another refused to hand over the order until they received a tip.

Now, there’s another delivery driver drama taking the internet by storm.

Tipping has long been a contentious issue online.

According to Pew Research, nine in ten adults at a sit-down restaurant always or often leave a tip. The majority also say they would tip 15% or less for the average meal.

Tipping majorly comes down to service, with three-quarters of adults saying the quality of service is a major factor in deciding whether or not to tip and by how much.

In the Las Vegas Review-Journal, experts emphasize the importance of tipping food delivery drivers, suggesting they should be treated similarly to restaurant servers with a recommended tip range of 15-20%.

To counter those who don’t tip, DoorDash has implemented measures.

A pop-up message will appear on the food delivery app when a customer enters $0 for the tip.

The message warns (per The Verge): “Orders with no tip might take longer to get delivered – are you sure you want to continue?”

It adds that drivers, known as Dashers, can choose which orders to accept, and those without tips may be less appealing, leading to longer delivery times.

A DoorDash spokesperson told CBS this feature is being tested to enhance the overall experience for both customers and Dashers.

Since its introduction, there’s been a ‘meaningful reduction’ in $0 tips.

But even when a customer tips, a delivery driver may dispute the tipping amount, leading to drama.

A viral TikTok video shows a DoorDash seemingly reacting to a 25 percent tip, which has led to a debate in the comments.

Defending the delivery driver, one viewer empathizes: “I don’t blame him.”

Another adds: “No, I agree. It’s expensive to drive there and implies a lack of regard for someone who depends on their vehicle.”

However, the sentiment among many is that the driver’s behavior was inappropriate.

“I’m wondering if you let his employer know what he said to you. That boy needs some manners and humility,” comments one viewer.

Agreeing, a second says: “I hope you took the tip back. He didn’t have to accept the order. All he did was pick up food.”

The clip shows a customer who has ordered a $20 pizza and tipped the driver $5.

Initially, the pair appear to engage in a polite and cordial exchange, however, this changes following the handover of the food.

Glancing at the house, the Dasher appeared to say: “I just want to say, it’s a pretty nice house for a $5 tip.”

Taken aback by the comment, the customer sarcastically replied: “You’re welcome.”

This triggered a less-than-friendly response from the delivery driver, who reportedly called out: “F*** you.”

According to NBC News, a DoorDash spokesperson confirmed that a worker had been removed from the platform relating to the incident. The company also reached out to the customer.

The spokesperson stated: “Respectfully asking for a tip is acceptable, but abusing or harassing someone is never acceptable.

“Our rules exist to help ensure everyone who uses our platform – Dashers, customers, merchants – have a safe and enjoyable experience.

“We expect everyone to treat others with respect, and we will enforce our rules fairly and consistently.”
