In the world of love, discovering the ideal partner doesn’t follow a one-size-fits-all rule. What beauty means can vary greatly from person to person, and true love doesn’t require following what society thinks is right. The amazing story of Matt and Brittany is a great example of this idea. They have shown that real love goes beyond just looks and involves accepting each other completely, just the way they are.

Throughout her whole life, Brittany Jacques, a 23-year-old woman, had been on a tough journey to find love and acceptance. Unfortunately, her path was filled with disappointment and sadness, often leaving her feeling down. Her past relationships with controlling partners had taken away her spirit, making her lose hope and confidence, especially about how she saw her own body.
Facing mixed messages from her ex-partners, who either wanted her to change her body or just saw her curves as objects, Brittany decided she would no longer lower her self-worth. With bravery, she made the choice to protect herself from the chance of love completely.
But little did she know, fate had a different plan for her. Sometimes, the universe creates amazing and unexpected connections between people, and Brittany was about to experience this incredible event for herself.

Just when Jacques was about to give up on finding love, she met Matt Montgomery in August 2020, all thanks to fate and Facebook. Even though they looked very different—Jacques being a plus-size woman and Montgomery being slim—their first meeting created an instant bond filled with strong chemistry.
Thinking back to those early days, Jacques remembers, “At first, I was a bit unsure. I had been in relationships where my partners made it clear they would break up with me if I didn’t go on a diet or try to lose weight. Those experiences really affected my confidence, and I ended up starting to exercise and trying to change my size.”

Even with all the harsh criticism, they stayed strong in their quest for love and became sure that their fates were connected. On January 30, 2022, Montgomery got down on one knee and asked Jacques to marry him, making their commitment to a future together official. As Jacques and Montgomery shared their touching love story with everyone, they faced a lot of mean comments and unfair judgments from online trolls.
Montgomery talked about the upsetting things he went through, where people unfairly judged his masculinity and looks. “People think they can comment on Instagram, saying that I am not good enough or not big enough for her,” he said. He also mentioned the obvious stares they got while walking down the street, unwanted attention that they had learned to deal with.

Even though they faced hurtful comments and a tough environment, the couple stayed strong in their goal to ignore the criticism and stick together. They promised each other that love has no limits when it comes to size or shape. Plus, Matt, who had some bad experiences with thin women before, saw Brittany as someone who truly understood him.
From the first time they met, Matt was drawn to Jacques’ positive attitude about her body and her strong self-love. Instead of trying to change how she looked, he just wanted to make her happy. In a post on Instagram, Brittany shared her feelings, saying, “You deserve endless love every single day and more. The deep bond we have, the way we see each other, and the feelings we share are clear proof that our lives are meant to be together.”

Jacques and Montgomery are really proud of their relationship, which goes against what society usually thinks is normal, especially because of their mixed-weight dynamic. They want to inspire others who are in similar situations. Jacques shared her deep wish that mixed-weight relationships become more common and accepted as the usual thing.
They truly believe that love has no limits and that people of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds can find real happiness together. They strongly argue that true love is priceless and shouldn’t be judged or shamed just because of how someone looks. Instead, they want to promote and celebrate love, seeing it as the amazing force that makes the world more beautiful and wonderful.
But Jacques and Montgomery aren’t the only couple facing criticism for just loving each other. It’s not only their size that seems to upset people online, but other reasons too. Sometimes, people are just meant to be together, and the proof of that can leave you speechless.
