The aftermath of the flooding in Texas is truly overwhelming. The number of fatalities has reached 81 across six counties, and at Camp Mystic, a girls’ summer camp, 27 campers and counselors are being mourned. Amid this sorrow, some heroes have emerged. One of them is Emma Foltz, a counselor at Camp Mystic, who is being celebrated for saving 14 campers.

Over 80 individuals have tragically lost their lives due to the severe flash flood in Texas. The Guadalupe River overflowed near Kerrville, leading to extensive destruction, prompting President Donald Trump to issue a major disaster declaration for Kerr County. Rescue operations are currently in progress to find and save those who are still unaccounted for.

The Christian girls’ camp, Camp Mystic, suffered greatly from the flooding. The camp has reported that at least 27 campers and counselors have died, with many others still unaccounted for.

“Our hearts are shattered along with the families facing this unimaginable tragedy. We are keeping them in our thoughts and prayers,” the camp stated on their website, noting that they are working closely with local authorities to continue the search for the “missing girls.”

They mentioned that they are in touch with local officials who are actively searching for the “missing girls.”

“We request your ongoing prayers, respect, and privacy for all the families affected. May the Lord continue to surround us with His presence,” the statement concluded.

A survivor of the Texas floods shares a chilling account.

In an interview with CNN, Amanda Sue Jones, who managed to escape the Texas flood with her family on the Fourth of July, shared a chilling account of the events. She described how the floodwaters rose incredibly quickly, stating that it all happened “in a matter of minutes from when it was just quiet, everyone was just asleep, to lights coming on slowly in the cabins and campers to them just being washed away.”

“It was just immeasurably fast,” she told CNN. “Everything seemed fine. There wasn’t a lot of hustling and bustling; it wasn’t a stressful situation at that point. But then again, nobody could really see the water past where this little bridge was and it’s almost like a wall of water came through.”

Sue Jones went on to explain, “Where we were camping, we were about 20 yards from a fork, like a little tributary of the river. And that’s what we were monitoring because we’re so close to it and it was well within its banks for the longest time, even throughout the night. It was rising but still within its banks, but then as soon as it started getting into the grass and out of the banks, that’s when the decision was made (to leave).”

On Sunday, reports surfaced about people attempting to save others but losing their own lives in the process. The community has united in the face of this unimaginable tragedy, and while there is destruction, grief, and sorrow, there are also tales of heroism.
