Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson are set to light up the screen in the new Naked Gun reboot, and it seems like the chemistry is real.
Scheduled to release in theaters on August 1, this comedy is the fifth movie in the famous Naked Gun series. This time, it follows Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. (played by Liam Neeson) as he takes on his late father’s role to save the world, tackling one crazy crime scene after another.
The film also features Busta Rhymes, Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand, Danny Huston, Liza Koshy, Cody Rhodes, and CCH Pounder. However, it’s the chemistry between Neeson and Pamela Anderson that has everyone buzzing. Their steamy scenes are already making news, especially since the intimacy coordinator reportedly found their on-screen connection too intense to manage.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Neeson shared: “I’d never worked with an intimacy coordinator before. She was very professional, quietly in the background. But during one of the scenes, she suddenly said, ‘I can’t take this! This is too hot for me. I’m going for coffee.’ And off she went!”
Even with the film’s silly comedy vibe, the relationship between Neeson and Anderson appears to be genuine. The Baywatch star called her co-star the “perfect gentleman,” stating: “He brings out the best in you, with respect, kindness, and depth of experience. It was an absolute honor to work with him.”
Neeson was really open about his feelings, saying he’s now “madly in love” after working with her. Anderson mentioned that their chemistry was immediate and mutual: “We definitely have a connection that is very sincere, very loving. He’s a good guy. I think I have a friend forever in Liam.”
The two even took their “professional romance” beyond the set, with a little help from their assistants. “I invited him and his assistant over for romantic dinners with me and my assistant,” Anderson told Entertainment Weekly. “That way, our relationship stayed professionally romantic during filming.”
Looking forward to the film’s release, she said, “I’m hoping people love it. We had so much fun making it. I think it’s the perfect time for a comedy like this. I’m a fan of the originals. And as Liam says, ‘We could all use a good giggle.’ I pray we get to do more.
