Netflix viewers say that a new movie is making them cry so much that they’re almost throwing up.
The streaming giant boasts an impressive catalogue of films available for subscribers to watch.
From Hollywood blockbusters to small independent movies, viewers are spoilt for choice when it comes to content available.
Now people have uncovered an old 2009 film that is leaving them in tears.
Hachi: A Dog’s Tale follows a college professor (Pretty Woman’s Richard Gere) as he bonds with an abandoned dog that he takes home.
The film is an adaptation of a true story about a loyal dog called Hachikō in Japan during the 1920s.
Upon its release, Hachi grossed $46.7 million on a budget of $16 million.
The movie did not get a theatrical release in the US and was only made available once it came out on DVD and debuted on cable television, as per The New York Times.
The film only has a 64% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes but it boasts an 84% audience score on the site.
Film critics at the time called the movie ‘an unapologetic tear-jerker’.
One reviewer wrote: “I challenge even the most hard-hearted moviegoer not to spill some saltwater while watching it.”
