In her book ‘Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones’, the ‘Here You Come Again’ artist actually reveals that since the ’80s, she always slept with a full face of makeup on in case of an emergency.
“When I arrived in LA in the ‘80s, I started sleeping with my makeup on, partly because of the earthquakes,” she wrote.
Parton clarifies that she always makes sure to clean her face in the morning and does ‘all the little rituals’ when it comes to freshening up.
She doubled down on this in an interview with WSJ Magazine, in which she said: “I do all my beauty work and cleaning my face in the morning because I usually try to keep my makeup on at night.
“Because I never know if there’s going to be an earthquake or a tornado or a storm and I’m going to have to go out in the middle of the night.”
And Parton is also known for her big and bouncy blonde hair – which is actually a wig.
Over the years, Parton has been incredibly open about why she wears wigs – having previously joked: “People always ask me how long it takes to do my hair. I don’t know, I’m never there.”

When celebrating the publication of her book ‘Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones’, the country music legend opened up to Vogue‘s senior fashion and style writer Christian Allaire about her fashion commandments.
“I started wearing wigs because I quickly realised that bleaching and teasing my hair every day would cause breakage and not look good,” Parton explained.
“It was handy to have several looks that I could just choose from, and never have a bad hair day.”

In her book ‘Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics’, the singer explained the transition from her au naturel hair to wigs.
She recalled (as recapped by Cheat Sheet): “I always wore my hair all teased up.
“Whenever that style started, I was the first to get my hair all poofy. Then as soon as I could buy those hairpieces and wigs, I wanted them.
“For one thing, they were so handy. Plus, my hair would never do exactly what I wanted it to do. So the wigs became kind of my trademark.”

As Parton’s wig is such an iconic part of her look, many fans have been left speechless after seeing the star’s natural hair in an Instagram post.
The singer stuns in a classic white sweater in a resurfaced black and white photo of herself in a recording booth – but the main focus is her locks.
