Reynolds may be a big blockbuster star now, but he wasn’t always.
The actor began his career in the Canadian teen soap opera Hillside alongside other minor roles, before landing the lead part in the sitcom Two Guys and a Girl between 1998 and 2001.
His career truly took off when he first played Deadpool in the Hugh Jackman-led X-Men spinoff and soon, he found his acting catalog expanding, with roles in The Proposal and Buried.
The actor has appeared in over 60 films, including 2011’s Green Lantern, where he met his wife Lively.
The pair met on the superhero film set, where he played the main role and Lively the love interest.
Surprisingly, sparks didn’t immediately fly between them.
It wasn’t until a year after the film was released that the A-listers realized they had ‘fireworks’ when together, per People magazine.
Previously, Reynolds had been married to actress Scarlett Johansson but the two broke things off in 2010, with their divorce finalized the following year.
Meanwhile, Lively had been in a relationship with Gossip Girl co-star Penn Badgley, but the pair also split in 2010.
By 2012, the Green Lantern couple were married and inseparable.
The couple now share four children and until recently, we only knew three of their names.
At the premiere of his latest film, Reynolds made an emotional speech in which he thanked his wife Lively, and their four children: James, Inez, Betty, and their latest arrival, Olin.
“I love that my entire family is here,” the actor added.
Reynolds and Lively welcomed their fourth child Olin on February 23, 2023, and have yet to reveal the gender of their youngest.
People on social media have slammed the Hollywood couple’s choice of baby names after hearing about their fourth child’s.
One person writes: “I’m sorry, I love these two but the names they pick for their kids.”
Agreeing, another adds: “They need to change these names immediately.”
“There’s no one worse at naming than Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds,” remarks a third.
A fourth person weighs in, commenting: “Ha ha… weird names.”
This isn’t the first time the couple has received backlash over their children’s names.
In 2014, when they announced the name of their firstborn, a girl named James, they were trolled for calling their daughter a ‘boy’ name.
In an interview on the daytime TV show Good Morning Britain, Reynolds defended their choice and explained that she was named after his late father.
He pointed out (via the Mirror): “In the spectrum of weird celebrity baby names, I feel like we’re not really breaking any new ground here.
“I mean, I didn’t call her Summer Squash Meadow Lark or something.”
