Fans have been left baffled after pop star Britney Spears claims she’s ‘adopted a baby girl.’
After nearly 13 years under a conservatorship that controlled many aspects of the ‘Toxic’ singer’s life, she was granted independence in November 2021.
The #FreeBritney movement, driven by fans, played a major role in drawing attention to her legal struggle.
The singer was put under conservatorship after her public mental health breakdown in 2008-2009.
Since Spears’ freedom, the pop star has become increasingly active on social media, regularly updating fans on her life.
Spears released a memoir, ‘The Woman in Me,’ in 2023, sharing insights into her life, career, and the challenges she faced under the conservatorship.
Previously, the star shared on Instagram that she’d never ‘return to the music industry,’ denying reports that she’d been ‘turning to random people to do a new album.’
The 43-year-old concerned fans with some of her ‘erratic’ and ‘bizarre’ behavior on social media, including dancing with knives and claiming she was a ‘5-year-old attending kindergarten.’
But now the star claims she’s adopted a baby girl.
Spears had two children from her previous marriage to Kevin Federline, which lasted just under three years.
The pair shares two sons, Sean Preston Federline, 19, and Jayden James Federline, 18.
Federline has sole legal custody of the boys, with Spears having supervised visits with the boys. In 2023, Federline moved Sean and Jayden from Los Angeles to Hawaii.
In December, the ‘Gimme More’ singer shared on Instagram that she’d seen her youngest son for the first time in nearly three years.
Spears wrote: “He came back and he feels older and smarter than me. He’s a man, and I cry every day of my life because of the miracle and genius he is !!! When he plays, the whole earth shakes !!!”
Jayden had spoken out in an interview on ITV about his relationship with his mother in 2022.
He shared his feelings about distancing himself from his mother, citing concerns over her mental health and social media presence, and expressed hope that their relationship could eventually be repaired.
Jayden said: “I 100% think it can be fixed … I just want her to get better mentally. When she gets better, I really want to see her again.”
In a recent Instagram post, Spears announced she’d added a new member to the family.
The ‘Baby One More Time’ artist posted a video of her dancing around in a pink bathing suit, a black brimmed hat, and matching knee-high boots.
The 43-year-old captioned the post: “I haven’t worked out in years, so I put this little pink one piece on and PLAYED !!! How are you, beautiful people, this morning ??? I need coffee.
“And I want to let you guys know I adopted a beautiful baby girl !!! Her name is Lennon London Spears !!!”
Spears also shared that Lennon had an ‘adorable dress on’ and announced she was ‘moving to Italy.’
The star may be joking about adopting a child, and her move from America after she left wink emojis following her shocking announcement.
A source told TMZ that Spears had not, in fact, adopted a child and isn’t moving to Italy.
