Olympics viewers divided after woman tries to kiss Tom Cruise during closing ceremony
Tom Cruise made quite the entrance at the Paris Olympics closing ceremony
Tom Cruise made quite the entrance at the Olympic closing ceremony in Paris, but viewers have been left divided by one moment.
After 16 days of entertaining sporting action at the 2024 Games, the action came to an end at the Stade de France on Sunday (11 August).
Unlike the opening ceremony, Paris’ final Olympic hoorah was all about Tom Cruise.
While the closing ceremony celebrated what happened in Paris, it also saw the handover to Los Angeles, who are hosting the 2028 Olympics.
While the Top Gun actor was running through the stadium, one audience member grabbed Cruise and went in for a kiss.

The Hollywood actor may not have resisted the woman’s advances, but the smooch was far from standard.
Many Olympic viewers have taken to social media and it’s fair to say they are split down the middle.
“Well, look at the closing ceremony and look how Tom Cruise let fans kiss him and rub their hands through his hair now that’s class that happens to be an individual who appreciates the fans,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
While another agreed: “She gave him the ole french double cheek kiss lol … perfectly acceptable in France.”

However, not everyone was in that camp as another quipped: “Pushy lady. People should not ever do what she did to anyone, celebrity or otherwise.
“You don’t grab and kiss a person especially a person you don’t even know in any way, and twice, like that. It’s very rude to force yourself onto them that way. Tom Cruise is so gracious.”
And a fourth person said: “The worst kind of people in audiences. Absolute zero respect for personal space.”
At the closing ceremony, Cruise abseiled off the stadium roof before landing on the pitch and picking up the Olympic flag from the mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, and Team USA gymnast Simone Biles.

A pre-filmed clip then saw the Hollywood actor make his way from Paris to the sunny state.
The video saw Cruise flying over the Atlantic Ocean before skydiving out of a plane and raising the Olympic flag on the Hollywood sign.
Accompanying the Mission Impossible-style sequence were the voices of California’s own Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Many spotted Cruise filming near the Hollywood sign back in March, with the vast majority believing he was filming some sort of commercial.
Instead, the 62-year-old was filming for the LA 2028 handover.
