Luana Alonso is a woman who is used to going viral for the wrong reasons.
The Paraguayan swimmer seems to be at war with her country ever since she failed to progress in the Women’s 100m Butterfly event at the 2024 Olympics in Paris in the heats.
Since then, she would retire but would not leave Olympic Stadium to return home.
Instead, she snuck out to Disneyland and upset the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, which told her to leave.
It turns out Luana Alonso’s name was buzzing earlier this year after the Paraguayan athlete revealed that Brazilian footballer Neymar is a fan of her.
She told Paraguayan radio show Aire de Todos: “He sent me a DM. That’s all I can say.”
The DM that she refuses to disclose apparently came two years after Neymar reacted to one of Alonso’s Instagram posts, according to FOX Sports.
Luana Alonso did not elaborate on the message’s content, saying, “That’s all I can say” and “I cannot tell this here.”
She confirmed she’d been a longtime fan of Neymar prior to the exchange.
Luana Alonso Responds To Being Kicked Out of Paris Olympics
Paraguayan swimmer Luana Alonso participated in the Paris Olympics and retired but was asked to leave due to her “inappropriate” behavior and for dressing in skimpy outfits in the village and going to Disneyland.
She had been accused of distracting competitors by socializing with them while wearing revealing outfits.
The two-time Paraguayan Olympian and former SMU swimmer responded to reports that she had been removed from the Olympic Village in Paris for “creating an inappropriate environment.”
In response to these claims, the Paraguayan swimmer posted an Instagram story Monday of her watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee. The message included in the post stated the following:
“I just wanted to clarify that they never took me out or expelled me from anywhere, stop spreading false information. I don’t want to give any statement but I’m not going to let lies affect me either.”
