Cobra Kai Stars Tanner Buchanan and Mary Mouser Reveal Engagement on Red Carpet

Tanner Buchanan and Mary Mouser are taking their romance out of the dojo.

After sparking engagement rumors when they flashed matching rings at a Cobra Kai series finale event Feb. 12, the costars hard launched their relationship by confirming the happy news on social media alongside romantic photos from their big night.

“We’re so happy to finally share that we’re engaged,” Tanner wrote in the caption of the couple’s joint Instagram post the following day. “This is such a special moment in our lives, the closing of one chapter and celebrating the continuation of another.”

The 26-year-old continued, “We’re so grateful for the love and support, and though we’re partial to having our private moments, we’re excited to share this check-in to our world.”

In the Netflix drama—a continuation of the Karate Kid film series—Mary, 28, plays Sam LaRusso, the daughter of karate champ Daniel LaRusso (portrayed by Ralph Macchio), while Tanner plays the once-estranged son of Daniel’s longtime rival Johnny Lawrence (portrayed by William Zabka). And series creator Jon Hurwitz couldn’t resist taking a bit of credit for the offscreen love connection.

“We’re matchmakers first, showrunners second,” he joked in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “Our primary goal with Cobra Kai was for Daniel LaRusso’s daughter and Johnny Lawrence’s son to fall in love in real life. Mission accomplished. So happy for them! A perfect couple!”

While the spouses-to-be have shared the screen since the series’ debut in 2018, they’ve largely kept their personal relationship private. But the two have spoken highly of each other over the years, like when Tanner—who previously dated Gen V actress Lizze Broadway—complimented Mary’s progress as a martial artist.

“She’s really improved a lot over the past few years,” he told GQ in 2021, “and is absolutely killing it.”

Meghann Fahy and Leo Woodall

They may have checked out of the hotel, but The White Lotus season two co-stars’ off-screen relationship is still going strong.

Meghann and Leo were spotted kissing during a rainy day out in New York City in November 2023, their PDA coming more than a year after they first sparked romance rumors.

Back in September 2022, Leo caused speculation about their relationship when he shared a collection of behind-the-scenes White Lotus cast photos to Instagram, including a group shot with Meghann that appears to show one of his fingers in her mouth.

He captioned his post, “That’s amore,” while she commented, “I love you! I love these! I love you!” with kiss and red heart emojis. He then responded, “Love you right back.”

But Meghann decided to plead the fifth when pressed about the rumors during  January 2023 appearance on Watch What Happens Live.

“Oh, I don’t kiss and tell!” she told a an inquiring fan. “Come on, guys!”

Host Andy Cohen chimed in with, “It would be delicious. It would be delicious. We would all love it.” Meghann responded, “You would? For you, I’ll say, sure,” before quickly adding amid a crowd of cheers, “I was kidding! Just because you wanted me to say it, so I said it.”

But by February 2024, it seemed they’d officially hard launched, with Meghann posted a cuddled up snap on Instagram.

Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton

Rarer than seeing the Mind Flayer? This Stranger Things couple making a public appearance together.

But Natalia and Charlie did just that in April 2023, stepping out at the 2023 Brooklyn Artists Ball at the Brooklyn Museum in New York.

The outing marked the first time Natalia and Charlie (whose characters Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers are together) had posed together on the red carpet since May 2022, when they attended a Stranger Things season four screening.

Natalia and Charlie debuted their romance on the red carpet in 2017, but have remained tight lipped when it comes to addressing their relationship publicly.

Sarah Shahi and Adam Demos

No wonder those Sex/Life scenes are so steamy: Its main couple fell in love while filming season one of the Netflix drama. Sarah and Adam went public with their romance in December 2020, with fans loving their adorable displays of affection on social media.

And mixing business and pleasure has been easy for the couple, with Sarah exclusively telling E! News that working with her boyfriend is “one of her favorite things.” As she put it, Adam is one of her “all-time favorite scene partners.”

“With him, it’s just that easy,” she explained. “I just have to look at him and 99 percent of my work is done for me. I’m falling in love with the person in real life, but I’m falling for the person on camera. It just created that extra bit that seeped through the lens. Maybe that’s what people loved so much.”

As for Adam, he was equally as quick to gush over his girlfriend.

“Outside of how I feel about her personally, she’s such an incredible talent that I’m watching and I’m learning,” he stated. “To be able to work with someone of her caliber, I feel very lucky, fortunate. But then also, I love her so much. There’s a lot of layers to it.”

Grace Van Patten and Jackson White

After viewers binged the Hulu drama Tell Me Lies, they couldn’t help but wonder if Grace and Jackson’s onscreen chemistry had trickled over into real-life, with the pair fully playing into their are-they-or-aren’t-they dynamic in interviews and on social media. And in November 2022, we finally got the answer: No, we’re not fibbing, the problematic onscreen pair is together in real-life and, fortunately, toxin-free!

Jackson confirmed their romance with several photobooth snaps from the 2022 CFDA Awards, including a picture of the co-star couple kissing.  He then posted a photo of himself and Grace touching tongues with the caption, “if we kiss can we get a s2 @hulu.” Spoiler alert: It worked! Tell Me Lies wrapped its second season in October.

Branden Cook and Katherine Hughes

Turns out Grace and Jackson aren’t the only ones turning up the heat on the Tell Me Lies set. While Branden and Katherine are caught in a love triangle on the Hulu drama as Evan and Molly, off-camera the couple have been rock solid for years.

Plugging his 2024 Apple TV+ war drama miniseries Masters of the Air in a January post, Katherine wrote, “my person is part of a beautiful new series and im v proud of him!!!”

Ryan Bingham and Hassie Harrison

Yellowstone fans were yelling “Yee-haw!” when the co-stars confirmed their relationship with a fiery photo posted to Ryan’s Instagram in April 2023. In the snap, the two were seen sharing a kiss in front of an open flame, with the actor captioning their PDA post, “More than a spark.” As for Hassie’s reaction? She commented, “I love you, cowboy.”

Their romance comes nearly two years after the “Weary Kind” singer split from his wife Anna Axster, with whom he shares three children. As for Hassie, she was previously linked to One Tree Hill actor Austin Nichols.

Naturally, the two went with a Western theme when they wed at Hassie’s family home in Texas in October 2023.

“From the start, Ryan and I just really wanted to create a day that wasn’t just a series of events—but a heartfelt experience that centered around emotions, comfort, intimacy, and genuine moments with the people we love the most,” she explained to Vogue, revealing their vows this past May. “Every choice was a reflection of us, and getting to witness it all come to life was incredible.”

Melanie Lynskey and Jason Ritter

The couple that stays together continues to work together.

Married since 2020, Melanie is set to welcome her husband into the Yellowjackets universe as the Parenthood actor has been cast in a secret role on the Showtime series.

“I can’t say anything about it, but he did an episode,” Melanie exclusively teased to E! News at the 2023 Independent Spirit Awards. (Though Jason didn’t make a cameo during the show’s second season, he will reportedly pop up at some point in the series.) “It’s always so fun to be with him. He’s such a nice person, he made me look better.”

However, this isn’t the first time the pair has had this arrangement as Jason made a surprise cameo in Melanie and Jessica Biel‘s 2022 Hulu miniseries Candy, along with the latter’s husband Justin Timberlake, and he appeared as a background extra in Melanie’s standout episode of the HBO zombie drama The Last Of Us.

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos

Happy wife, happy Live!

After countless appearances from Mark as a guest co-host over the year, the beloved couple made their debut as the permanent co-hosts of the morning talk show April 17, with Kelly vowing they would front the show together “until one of us dies.”

But sipping a cup of coffee with millions of viewers each morning isn’t the first time Mark and Kelly have shared the screen together, having met and fell in love when they played love interests on All My Children. Several decades of marriage, three children—MichaelLola and Joaquin—and lots of TMI revelations later, their Live! gig is a dream come true for the pair.

“This is my favorite hour of television every morning, I swear,” Mark said during their debut show. “I’m so proud, and it’s just a privilege to be here with you.”

Kevin McGarry and Kayla Wallace

We are still waiting for the Hallmark Channel movie based on the sweet love story between two of the network’s actors.

Together since 2020, the now-married duo do not play a couple on their hit series When Calls the Heart. But they did appear as love interests in two 2022 films: In Feeling Butterflies and My Grown-Up Christmas List.

“Believe it or not, there’s no clause in my contract that says I only do movies with him—I just enjoy working with the guy,” Kayla said in an interview with MediaVillage. “Hallmark is a wonderful part of my life, and I’m so grateful for everything, and for all the experiences that they’ve brought my way.”
