The star – whose full name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson – posted pictures of her donning a dark red two-piece workout set.
She also shared her weight loss stats. The graphic showed that she lowered her body mass index (BMI) by 10.5 and lost 16% of her body fat since starting her journey in January 2024.
“I did it,” Lizzo penned in the caption. “Today when I stepped on my scale, I reached my weight release goal. I haven’t seen this number since 2014! Let this be a reminder you can do anything you put your mind to. Time for new goals!”

Lizzo has long advocated for body positivity, self-love, and acceptance throughout her successful career.
The star revealed that she has recently shifted her focus to “weight release” – a term reflecting a more holistic and balanced approach to health and weight management.
It all started in September 2024 when the ‘About Damn Time’ singer revealed on TikTok that she was undergoing a dramatic transformation.
At the time, she showcased her progress in a side-by-side clip. In the beginning, she appeared in a black two-piece before transitioning to a gray bodysuit that highlighted her toned physique.
Soundtracking the video with a Nicki Minaj quote, she captioned it: “Fine both ways.”

Since then, the ‘2 Be Loved’ singer has kept fans updated, sharing moments of her journey along the way.
In November, she posted a playful Instagram video featuring her and her mom, Shari Johnson-Jefferson, sporting matching braided hairstyles while lip-syncing to an audio clip from Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
“My mom stole my hairstyle & ate me up,” she quipped in the caption.

The Grammy-winning star has been vocal about adapting the concept of body positivity – a movement championing self-love regardless of shape or size – to align with modern perspectives.
In a March 2024 interview with The New York Times, she explained: “The idea of body positivity, it’s moved away from the antiquated mainstream conception. It’s evolved into body neutrality.”
The star shared that her “natural weight-loss journey” is about being “methodical” and intentional, prioritizing consistency over quick results.
“I’m taking the time every day to put some love into my body,” she said. “There is never a day when I regret taking a walk or doing some Pilates.”
Yet, Lizzo’s perspective remains deeply personal, as she acknowledges her feelings about her body can fluctuate.
“I’m not going to lie and say I love my body every day,” she said. “The bottom line is, the way you feel about your body changes every single day…There are some days I adore my body, and others when I don’t feel completely positive.”
Lizzo addressed critics who claim that her weight loss contradicts her previous advocacy for body positivity, saying: “My body is nobody’s business.”
