Cause of death revealed for Aubrey Plaza’s director husband Jeff Baena

Hollywood is mourning the loss of filmmaker Jeff Baena, who passed away at the age of 47. His manner was revealed as suicide and now his exact cause of death has been revealed.

Known for his sharp storytelling and unique vision, Baena was found deceased at his Los Angeles home, which he shared with his wife, actress Aubrey Plaza. Authorities have confirmed that Baena died by suicide.

Baena made a name for himself in the world of independent cinema, directing films such as Life After Beth, Joshy, and The Little Hours. His career began after studying film in New York, which later led him to Los Angeles to pursue his passion for writing and directing.

In 2004, he co-wrote the critically acclaimed I Heart Huckabees, working alongside a star-studded cast, including Jason Schwartzman, Jude Law, and Naomi Watts.

It has been reported that the Baena died by hanging.

The U.S. Sun obtained the LA County Fire Department’s radio call which revealed it dispatched a unit “to a hanging” at the address in Los Feliz.

His body was found by an assistant at the property, which the couple purchased together in 2022, at 10:25AM. Baena was pronounced dead at the scene.

Baena and Plaza had been in a long-term relationship for over a decade before quietly tying the knot in 2021. The couple often collaborated professionally, with Plaza taking leading roles in several of Baena’s films. In a 2021 Instagram post, Plaza called Baena her “darling husband” and expressed pride in his creative achievements.

Plaza has not yet spoken publicly about the tragic loss, and the family has requested privacy as they navigate this challenging time. The entertainment industry, however, has been vocal in honoring Baena’s contributions to cinema, describing him as a storyteller who brought wit and depth to his projects.

Baena’s sudden death has also sparked discussions about the importance of mental health. Many have called attention to the need for open dialogue and resources for those struggling with emotional and mental challenges.
