While someone else pens: “That has to be one of the most heartbreaking, gut-wrenching stories I’ve ever heard of.”

The TV movie, directed by Alex Kalyminios, stars Orange Is the New Black star Taryn Manning, The Closer‘s Raymond Cruz, and Justice League‘s Joe Morton.

It’s based on the kidnapping of three Cleveland women in the early 2000s and the memoir ‘Finding Me: A Decade of Darkness, a Life Reclaimed’ by Michelle Knight.

The drama’s description reads: “Abducted and held captive for 11 years by Ariel Castro, three women form an unlikely bond due to their shared trauma before they are rescued.”

The disturbing film is based on a horrific true story.

Between 2002 and 2004, Knight, Amanda Berry, and Gina DeJesus were kidnapped by Castro and held captive at his home in Tremont, a neighborhood in Cleveland, Ohio.

All three remained imprisoned at the house of horrors until 2013 when Berry successfully escaped.

Knight, DeJesus, and Berry’s six-year-old daughter – who she gave birth to while captive – were then freed. Castro was arrested.

Castro would be sentenced to life imprisonment, plus 1,000 years in prison without the possibility of parole.

At his sentencing, he claimed he suffered from addictions to s** and p***ography, stating (per NBC News): “I’m not a monster. I’m sick.”

Just one month into his sentence, the 53-year-old took his own life.

According to a report on Castro’s death from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, via CNN, he penned a note saying that those who confessed with their heart ‘will be saved.’

He reportedly wrote in all capital letters: “God loves you, for all are sinners, we all fall short of the glory of God. Christ is my savior and yours!!”
