She may find it hard to Shake It Off this time.
A resurfaced video of Taylor Swift rapping Eminem‘s Lose Yourself has gone viral – for all the wrong reasons.
A clip of the 34-year-old songstress singing the rapper’s famous song on stage in 2011 has drawn a very mixed reaction from fans.
The clip, which was posted to Reddit‘s DListed Community subreddit, features Swift in her country-singing days with crimped hair, a bright green ruffled dress and an acoustic guitar.
‘Alright,’ the young singer says as she walks on stage.
The Eras Tour superstar then starts the song, tailoring it for the festival crowd.
‘If you had one shot, one opportunity, to be the loudest crowd we have seen all summer would you take the shot? Or let it slip?’ she says, imitating the , as the iconic music starts and she begins furiously strumming her guitar.
Swift then starts singing the song – making it more melodic than Eminem’s version.
The clip only goes for just over a minute – which was more than enough time, according to commenters.
‘What in the high school talent show trainwreck is this??’ an appalled listener wrote.
‘Based on how cringeworthy, uninspired, flat, “toddler-on-ice” her current performances are, I am shocked to realize that she actually improved lol,’ another scathing comment read.
‘Oh dear, she “raps” like a 12 year old cheerleader – so sing-songy and cringe!’ someone else chimed in.
‘I cringed so hard I think my face won’t ever be the same again,’ a fourth declared.
Lose Yourself won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, and featured in Eminem’s 2002 film 8 Mile.
It’s not the first time Swift has been ridiculed for her cringeworthy behavior.
Earlier in November, the singing superstar delighted – and horrified – fans by wearing skinny jeans to a Chiefs’ game.
The great denim divide has been raging between millennials – who wore the popular style for about a decade from the early 2000s – and Gen Zs, who opt for a slouchier style.
The 1989 hitmaker caused a huge stir on social media with her generationally defining ‘fit -wearing a chic Louis Vuitton cropped pullover fleece in the color red for Kelce’s Chiefs and black PAIGE skinny leg jeans.
Some Gen Zers have posted TikToks stating they’d rather be dead or homeless than be caught wearing skinny jeans, but millennials aren’t giving up their go-to denim style without a fight.
Swifties took to social media to debate the new look.
‘I cant believe taylor swift is wearing skinny jeans in 2024,’ one person wrote X, formerly known as Twitter.
Another agreed, ‘Taylor can we please not bring back skinny jeans? Don’t put that out into the universe.’
‘She’s wearing skinny jeans NOOOOO THIS CANT BE COMING BACK,’ someone else typed.
One person shared, ‘UGHHHH SHE LOOKS GOOD AS ALWAYS but that fit looks better without the skinny jeans.’
