The tragedy occurred in 2021 during a family camping trip meant to celebrate Duncan Craw’s 33rd birthday, leaving behind his young son Levi and wife, Taylia.
A poignant photo has surfaced, capturing the last moments Duncan spent with his son. In the image, young Levi stands on the beach dressed in bathers and a straw hat, clutching a toy shovel. In the blurry distance, Duncan can be discerned snorkeling in the waters.
This image now stands as a somber reminder of their final shared moments.
The search for Craw yielded grim findings—a pair of flippers and a damaged wetsuit believed to be his. A body was later found in the area where Duncan was last seen.
In response to this devastating loss, the Craw family started a GoFundMe campaign to support Levi’s future, reflecting on the deep bond between father and son—a bond abruptly cut short, mirroring the loss Duncan himself experienced when he lost his own father at a young age.
The fundraiser has resonated with the community, amassing over $42,000 AUD in just three days, with a goal of reaching $50,000 AUD. It eventually exceeded its goal, raising a total of $56,385 AUD.
Family members, including Duncan’s wife, mother Wendy, and sisters Megan and Bridget, have expressed their profound gratitude for the outpouring of support during this harrowing time.
Bret Trigg, Duncan’s brother-in-law, shared with 9 News the family’s trauma and the small comfort they find in Levi’s presence, which gives them strength to continue forward.
