In a heartbreaking incident at a charity hockey game held at the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center in Bethpage, New York, 17-year-old high school senior Connor Kasin tragically passed away.
The event, which took place on the night of November 30, was meant to honor a former student’s memory but ended in tragedy with the sudden medical event involving Kasin. Kasin was a well-loved student and hockey player from Massapequa High School, The New York Post reports.
During an intermission of the match, Connor Kasin suddenly lost consciousness on the ice, prompting immediate CPR efforts as paramedics and police quickly responded to the emergency.
Despite the swift actions to save him, Connor was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. The exact cause of death is yet to be determined, but authorities have indicated that no criminal activity is suspected in the unfortunate event.
The community of Massapequa High School, deeply affected by the loss, received words of condolence and support from the school’s superintendent, William Brennan.
