While the transition from acting to directing is fairly common, Stasey’s move into the realm of adult entertainment as a director is notably unusual.
In a chat with the news.com.au podcast “I’ve Got News For You,” she revealed her initial project in adult cinema was inspired by the overtly sexualized nature of perfume advertisements.
From this observation, she crafted her own creative concept: “So I kind of came up with the concept of a perfume commercial that then becomes a lesbian threesome.”
She described this collaborative environment warmly, noting the supportive atmosphere:
“It’s very ‘warm’ and the women are ‘very kind and patient’,” she commented, highlighting the supportive nature of her colleagues.
“I want to become a better director and learn how to make things that look beautiful and feel good so that one day I can learn how to make things that are ugly and don’t,” she added.
She is also featured in the current Prime Video series “Class of ‘07,” which includes Emily Browning and Steph Tisdell.
Speaking with Women’s Agenda about her project, she emphasized its purpose:
“My main focus has always been, continues to be, solidarity – the only relief I feel when faced with an issue is to know I’m not alone, knowing that women, ones whom I may never meet, are out there rooting for each other and persevering.”
“Nothing warms my heart more than sisterhood, and it is my sincerest hope that women who view the site, participate or even simply hear about it are encouraged to band together with love and compassion.”
“I was really lucky that was filmed before the evolution of the green screen … it was all practical back then.
“I went to India, I was in Africa, I went to China, I went all throughout Australia,” Stasey reminisced.
“It was truly one the most incredible experiences of my life, but I was like 10 years old.
“So there’s a bit lost on us, but it was truly so special.”
