I’m A Celeb viewers in stitches after Ant and Dec’s Rebekah Vardy joke minutes into first episode

Ant and Dec made a pretty iconic joke right off the bat

Just minutes into the debut episode of this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and presenters Ant and Dec have done what they do best – leaving viewers in fits of laughter.

Following weeks of teasers and first-looks, tonight marked the official commencement of the 2024 series, with ten big-name stars finally landing into the IAC camp.

Each contestant will have their fears and phobias put to the test in the next month, with viewers voting for the A-lister they’d like to see undergo a dreaded Bushtucker Trial.

Not only do these nightly challenges often involve coming face-to-face with millions of creepy crawlies, but they also see the likes of snakes, rats and even crocodiles thrown into the mix too.

And on top of this, the line-up’s daily meals will be rationed by producers, meaning each celeb will have to fight for their right to eat during each of these missions, or face the wrath of their hungry house-mates back home.

But while fans of the show have been predicting some form of mention of the legendary ‘Wagatha Christie’ case tonight following Coleen Rooney’s announcement in the line up, they mightn’t have expected the hosts to mention her feud with Rebekah Vardy straight off the bat.

Discussing the WAG’s appearance on the show, Dec teased during the show’s introduction: “Of course, we’ve got Coleen Rooney – it’ll be nice for Coleen to face a trial that doesn’t involve Rebekah Vardy for a change!”.

And taking to social media, viewers couldn’t help but praise the stars for their quick wit.

“Ant and Dec right in there with the wagathacrisitie jokes,” one gushed.

Another laughed: “Ant and Dec getting the Rebekah Verdy joke in early doors”

Joining presenters Ant and Dec on the show this year alongside Rooney are McFly musician Danny Jones, Strictly Come Dancing pro Oti Mabuse, Loose Women panellist Jane Moore, Radio 1 star Dean McCullough, N-Dubz front-woman Tulisa and boxing promoter Barry McGuigan.

The line-up will also see kids television presenter Melvin Odoom taking part, alongside Coronation Street actor Alan Halsall and TikTok influencer GK Barry.

And according to some rumours, we may even be seeing two additional stars making a surprise appearance Down Under in the following days.

It is believed that former Love Island bombshell Maura Higgins and radio host and author Rev Richard Coles will serve as the show’s famous ‘late entrants’ – introduced several days into the season to stir up some drama within the camp.

By the sounds of things, we’re in for a hell of series…
