Boy, 16, divides the internet with billowing ballgown, some say he’s ‘stunning’ others say ‘vile’

Korben White, a 16-year-old with fiery red hair, made waves on the internet when he showed up to his high school prom wearing a stunning red skirt and a sequin-speckled tuxedo top. The billowing ballgown perfectly matched his vibrant hair.

Nina Green, the mother of a teenager, shared a viral post of her son all dressed up for prom. Some supporters of the woke movement admired his stylish outfit, while others criticized Nina for supposedly not guiding her child properly.

At the age of 12, Korben White informed his mother, Nina Green. “ He desired to attend his school prom wearing a gown.

By 2022, just four years after stating his goal, the teenager, a bold young drag queen known as Miss Frou Frou, achieved it.

Green discusses her son’s motivation in an interview with the BBC.

“He wanted to go as himself, while expressing his feminine side–with a tuxedo on the top and a dress at the bottom, very much influenced by [American actor] Billy Porter.” She continued, “He wanted to be Korben…but in a dress.”

When Korben got out of the car wearing a shiny red outfit with a white shirt and a big red bow, everyone at Archbishop Sancroft High School in Harleston, Norfolk clapped for his big reveal.

The proud mom shared that when Korben stepped out of the car, everyone erupted in cheers. She mentioned that she couldn’t hold back her tears, and even some of the teachers were crying too. It was a moment of joy because Korben was finally able to be his true self.

“Everyone has been very supportive, and his year group has been incredible. If you let your child be who they are then you’ll get nothing but the best out of them.”

On July 1, Green showed her unwavering support for her son once again by tweeting.

Green pens down, along with a few photos of Korben in the amazing outfit.

“At age 12 my son announced he wanted to go to his school prom in a gown. Four years later we made it happen. I’m so incredibly proud of him for being true to himself & the reception he got from his whole school was incredible.”

The handsome young man’s post gained immense popularity as millions of users worldwide shared, commented, and complimented him.

Michelle Visage, a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race, even acknowledged it., “You are an amazing beautiful mom and your child is a STAR.”

Korben expressed how strange it felt when his mother’s tweet caught Visage’s attention.

“To me she is such an icon, a wonderful celebrity and I really admire her,” he said.

Green was surprised by the overwhelming response to her show of support for her son, as she simply wanted to showcase him “living his best life,” leading other parents to seek her advice.

Some users shared photos and stories of their own gender-bending children.

One writes, “I worry for my son, he would really love to do something like this at prom but he would definitely not have the support of all the students! So sad that we still have homophobia even now. Well done to you, your son and his school!”

A second shares, “I am so happy for your son he looked absolutely amazing!!!My son is trans, after 3yrs of transphobic bullying in Jan b4 GCSEs [General Certificate of Secondary Education offered in parts of the UK] I had to take him out of school for his mental health. He was always going to prom in a tux and he was deprived of the chance.”

A third simply writes, “Absolutely stunning! My daughter wore a suit to hers!”

Other comments followed the positivity, showing that people have different social paths.

One writes, “There is very little hope for civilization,” and a second shares, “…Vile, Woke & a failure as a parent in encouraging this sort of thing. A 12 year old boy should be playing football and learning to be a man. But, sadly people now a days virtue signal, like what you’re doing with this tweet, and ruin their kids for life. Shame.”

Another internet user expresses concern about the backing Green’s post has received. “There is absolutely nothing natural about a ‘boy’ dressing like a ‘girl’–the support shows just how screwed up our world is.” One online fan even goes to the extent of claiming that the world lacks logic. “We live in a world where children should no longer pretend to be Indians but men should pretend to be women. Utopian.”

However, Green, a strong supporter, refused to give in to the negativity on the internet.

Green took her son to London Pride the day after her tweet went viral on the internet. She also posted a lovely picture of the two of them.

One cyber user commented, “My boy did too, couldn’t be prouder, he’s also at London Pride today aged 16 it’s fabulous love and to you and yours,” and a second shared, “you both look amazing xx”

Someone else insults the mother, saying, “Your son doesn’t seem manly anymore, like a fa****.”

Green, who mentions on Twitter that she doesn’t pay attention to negativity, expresses her wish that other kids and parents will feel inspired by the bond she has with Korben.

“I really hope it will help others be more accepting, let proud parents feel they are not alone, and that they can celebrate their children, and for young people to know there is a network there if they need it.” She continued, “You need to accept your children for who they are.”

Korben Green is truly a courageous young man for openly expressing himself! He is incredibly lucky to have a mom who ignores the negativity and continues to raise him in the best possible way.
