Fake Brad Pitt Cons Two Women Out Of $360,000 By Pretending To Be In A Relationship With Them

Police in Spain have arrested a group of criminals who were scamming people by pretending to be Brad Pitt.

This group managed to target two women and tricked them out of €325,000, which is around $361,000.

According to a statement from Spain’s Guardia Civil police force, the scammers posed as the famous Oscar-winning actor online.

They led the women to believe they were in a “sentimental relationship” with him.

Once the fake relationships were established, the scammers convinced the women to invest in various projects.

However, these projects didn’t exist, and the criminals were simply pocketing the money.

Two women fell victim to the scam. One woman from the southern region of Andalusia was conned out of €175,000 (about $194,000), while the other, from the northern Basque Country, lost €150,000 (around $166,000).

Police explained that the scammers had carefully studied their targets’ social media accounts.

They created detailed psychological profiles of the women before striking.

In a statement, police said: “The cybercriminals, to capture the victims, had studied their social networks and made a psychological profile of them, thus discovering that both women were two vulnerable people, lacking in affection and in a state of depression.”

The scammers went so far as to convince the women they were chatting with Brad Pitt himself.

The statement continued: “They also used instant messaging platforms to exchange messages and emails with the two women until they reached a point where they believed they were chatting via WhatsApp with Brad Pitt himself, who promised them a romantic relationship and a future together.”

In connection to the case, police arrested five people in Andalusia, including those believed to be the ringleaders.

During the operation, officers seized mobile phones, bank cards, and a diary where the scammers had written down phrases they used to deceive their victims.

Additionally, they recovered €85,000 (around $94,500) of the money stolen from the two women.

Online scams like this one are an increasing threat, with fraudsters often using very sophisticated tactics to manipulate their victims.

For example, one man lost his entire life savings of $715,000 after being duped by a scammer online.

The man, who remains unnamed, was approached by someone pretending to be a 37-year-old Chinese woman living in San Francisco.

After building trust, the scammer used emotional blackmail when the man began to grow suspicious or hesitated to follow through with their demands.

Sadly, after he sent over his money for an “investment,” he never heard from the scammer again.
