On Thursday, a terrible accident in Manitoba, Canada, claimed the lives of at least 15 people. A bus filled with elderly passengers crashed into a truck at an intersection close to Carberry, which is about 170 kilometers west of Winnipeg.
The bus was taking the passengers to a casino in Carberry. Deputy Police Officer Rob Hill, who leads the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba, confirmed that “at least 15 individuals were pronounced dead as a result of the collision.”
In addition, ten other people are currently being treated in the hospital. Both drivers survived the crash, but the police have not revealed who caused the accident. Photos from the scene showed damaged wheelchair seats and walking frames near the tarps covering the victims.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau shared his condolences, saying he is thinking of the injured and the families of those who lost their loved ones. Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson also offered her sympathy.
