The FBI have released the first images of a ‘person of interest’ in the shooting of Charlie Kirk.
The FBI has just released pictures of a ‘person of interest’ in the shooting of Charlie Kirk, which happened on Wednesday evening (September 10).
They are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person.
They are the first images law enforcement has released of the individual, and they believe the person is involved in Kirk’s death.
Kirk, 31, was shot dead at a university campus in Utah.
Footage of the fatal attack has circulated on X, formerly Twitter, depicting the moment a loud bang was heard.
Kirk was violently struck in the neck before collapsing in his chair, as blood was seen pouring from the wound.
His wife, Erika Lane Frantzve, 36, and their two small children, were present at the event.
Beau Mason, commissioner of the Department of Public Safety, confirmed that Kirk died in hospital following the fatal shot wound to the neck.
He noted that the shooter fired the bullet from the roof of the campus.
Mason said: “After the shooting, we were able to track his movements as he moved to the other side of the building, jumped off the building, and fled off the campus and into a neighbourhood.”
FBI agent Robert Bohls further noted that they have located the weapon they believe was used in the shooting, a high-powered bolt-action rifle.
Bohl said: “That rifle was was recovered in a wooded area where the shooter had fled. The FBI laboratory will be analysing this weapon.”
In addition to the weapon, detectives also found ‘palm print and forearm imprints’ which have been taken to the laboratory for analysis.
The FBI believe that the shooter was of college age.
President Trump confirmed the death of the MAGA influencer in a statement yesterday evening.
It read: “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie.
“He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us.
“Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”
