Jamie Lee Curtis Is ‘Self-Retiring’ From Hollywood At 66

Hollywood star Jamie Lee Curtis has announced heartbreaking news in an attempt to avoid ‘suffering’ at 66.

The Freaky Friday actress has announced news that may leave some fans upset, as the star notes that she does not want to follow in the same footsteps as her parents.

The mom-of-two has revealed just how cruel the film industry can be as stars begin to age.

The consequences of such have heavily influenced her decision of whether or not to carry on with her career.

Curtis shot to fame aged 19, thanks to her role in Halloween in 1978.

But despite finding fame at an early age, the actress is currently riding on the high of having won her first Oscar in 2023, for Everything Everywhere All at Once.

And Curtis will be back in cinemas this month, having previously described herself as ‘a weapon of mass promotion.’

She also recently addressed the conversation of cosmetic filler and surgeries, as she noted in an interview with The Guardian: “I’ve been very vocal about the g***cide of a generation of women by the cosmeceutical industrial complex.

“The concept that you can alter the way you look through chemicals, surgical procedures, fillers – there’s a disfigurement of generations of predominantly women who are altering their appearances.”

The actress also leads by example, having shocked the online world in 2002 when she starred on the cover of a magazine in her underwear and no makeup.

Curtis said: “I’m not filtered right now. The minute I lay a filter on and you see the before and after, it’s hard not to go: ‘Oh, well that looks better.’

“But what’s better? Better is fake.

“And there are too many examples – I will not name them – but very recently we have had a big onslaught through media.”

But in the same bombshell interview, Curtis explained that she has made the tough decision to ‘self-retire’ from Hollywood, having seen first hand the damaging effects of growing old in the industry.

Speaking with The Guardian, the actress said: “I witnessed my parents lose the very thing that gave them their fame and their life and their livelihood, when the industry rejected them at a certain age.

“I watched them reach incredible success and then have it slowly erode to where it was gone.”

The 66-year-old noted just how ‘painful’ that experience was.

She added: “I have been self-retiring for 30 years.

“I have been prepping to get out, so that I don’t have to suffer the same as my family did.

“I want to leave the party before I’m no longer invited.”

However, it seems her position in the industry still has great influence.

Curtis alleged that it was she who convinced top bosses at Disney that Freakier Friday should run in cinemas, as well as being released on streaming platforms.
