Anne Burrell was widely recognized for her TV programs like Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and Worst Cooks in America.
Her final Instagram update was posted shortly before her sudden passing.
It was reported yesterday (June 17) that the famous chef had passed away at the age of 55. Her death is believed to have been sudden, as she was found unresponsive in her New York apartment. Tragically, she was declared dead at the scene.
Burrell gained fame for hosting shows such as Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and co-hosting Worst Cooks in America, which aired for an impressive 28 seasons.
Reports suggest she may have suffered a cardiac arrest, according to a 911 call obtained by PEOPLE, but the Office of Chief Medical Examiner has yet to officially confirm the cause of her death.
Burrell is survived by her husband of four years, Sturart Claxton, her stepson Javier, and her children Isabella, Amelia, and Nicolas.
Just a few days prior to her passing, Burrell posted a cheerful photo with the New York icon known as ‘The Green Lady of Brooklyn’ on her Instagram.
Next to the adorable selfie, Burrell wrote: “I ran into @greenladyofbrooklyn in my neighborhood today!! I’m not going to lie- I have been keeping an eye out for her. I may or may not have followed her down the street for a minute. She is just lovely!!!”

What used to be a happy post has now been flooded with messages of condolence.
One of her fans expressed: “This can’t be real. Chef Anne, you were lively, funny, full of energy, and reminded me of my Mom. I’m so very sorry. Rest with the Angels in Heaven and whip up a feast for us.”
“Rest in peace, Anne. You brought so much joy to Food Network. Worst Cooks is still one of my all-time favorite shows,” another fan said.
Someone else wrote a tribute to the late chef: “I’ll always remember to tuck my finger in when using a knife because of you! Fly high, Anne. There’s a new star shining brightly tonight.”
“You will be greatly missed! Sending love to all your family and friends,” another person wrote.

In a statement released by Burrell’s family, she was referred to as ‘a cherished wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend’.
“Her smile brightened every room she walked into,” the heartfelt statement continued. “Anne’s light reached far beyond those she knew, impacting millions around the globe.
“Even though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and endless love will last forever.”]} }
